I'm 5 chapters in but I have to just comment already how fun and good this is.
I've had thoughts of a story that follows the PoV of a non-returnee/reincarnated etc but htis series actually does it and does it as a comedy that's really good. On top of that the prince himself is comically prodigious in any field he sets his mind to and just elevates it all.
And the art is so ridiculously good and cute!

update @ch28
It becomes much more of a downer in volume 4/5. Significantly loses the extremely lightheartedness and comedy. So I've been enjoying it less. One volume to go.

The "big thing" that sets this "Reincarnated Villainess" apart from all the others is that here the couple shares a lot of the responsibilities: The female lead is the reincarnated Japanese person while the male lead is the perspective character and narrator; the female lead is the one with knowledge of the future and the game while the male lead is usually the one with the power to put that knowledge to use best; the female lead is the one who is the very embodiment of a good person to the core of her being who inspires everyone to be on her side and do their best while the male lead is cold, fake and calculating with most people who are not the female lead. This makes it really easy to avoid the common trope of putting all the focus on just the reincarnated protagonist who is the smartest, kindest, most powerful and cunning and best at cooking and inventing makeup and gadgets and recipes and making every other character seem boring and shallow to the point where 5 volumes in I still ask myself "Why is she even into him? / Why is he even into her?".

Here the main couple is wonderful although the male lead may take a few chapters to warm up to. I have a friend who didn't really start liking him that much all the way until halfway through the second volume but the female lead can easily carry your investment through the story up until that point.

The side characters work really well too, both by being pleasant on their own and when they mirror certain aspects of the main couples relationship. Personally I was a very big fan of the butler, the princes brother and the princes brother's fiancée.

The setting and plot are never anything too deep or special but the focus of this whole manga are the characters so it's not really an issue that setting and plot take a backseat.

The art and designs are consistently beautiful and exude nobility. My only complaint is that we get SO many great outfits in volume 1 but after that there is far less variety when it comes to clothing and jewelry.

We always get enough nice and warm moments that this series feels like a wonderful journey with a few dark and dramatic moments along the way but the dark moments aren't there to scare you off, just to contrast and make the light moments shine brighter.

Don't let the fact that this series has a sequel make you think it doesn't get a proper ending. The ending is excellent and completes all major story threads in a satisfying way.

If you like a good romance or you just want a unique twist on the "Reincarnated Villainess" trope you cannot go wrong with picking up volume 1 of this series.

Plot isn't that deep and dramatic, but the characters are what will make you stay.

This is probably one of the best when it comes to "I was Reincarnated Into a Game as a Villainess" premises which of course is quite usual nowadays, but then would always plunge in the middle plotwise. BUT, this isn't somehow the rest of them, and made me read through the end. Probably because I liked the the main couple's chemistry, and would make you become very interested on how it will develop bc how they started was rather unusual lol. I usually hate useless female MCs, but the female MC here can be seen as clumsy and foolish, and yet somehow she's not annoying, but rather cute and funny? Her level of obliviousness reminds me of Kashima or Yuzuki from Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun, so rather than becoming irritating, her character was rather funny.

I'd def recommend this if you're sick of "I was reincarnated into a game" plots bc this manga is rather fresh compared to other mangas w/ the same kind of premise.

The manga was short and sweet and very entertaining. The author did a great job of keeping the atmosphere light and fluffy with touches of comedy. Which is the type of manga it was hinted to be at the beginning.

I find a certain commenter below to be quite retarted. If they wanted to read something that wasn't so fluffy, they should go read a Josei it is beyond me how they see “Romance, Comedy, Shoujo” and expect a story that delves into dark human nature and conflict.

Overload of ditsy cuteness. If you like that sort of thing go ahead. The lack of true adversity is so little, I might as well be reading a toddlers bedtime story. Not recommended.

This is a series I keep going back to, and in fact has become a standard by which I measure other isekai/otome isekai against. The pacing is excellent, the characterization of everyone is amusing, and the motivations underlying the plot are comprehensible (within the logic of the fictional world).

This story is told from the point of Cecil, the prince and love interest to the heroine. He meets the female lead, Bertia, as a child where she announces she is a villainess and promises to live up to her assigned role for his sake. The prince begins as a cynical, cold young prodigy but through their interactions and his growing fascination with her, he warms to people and builds a foundation of friends and companions. The fact you're able to see from his point of view what he thinks of Bertia makes this character growth realistic. He has a surprising amount of self-awareness (especially for a shoujo manga lead).

The support characters are done pretty well as each of them has personalities and interests. They're friends of the main characters and are reverent towards them, but also have their own love interests. I wouldn't call them well-developed since the series is so short and you only see a snippet, but it's enough to draw you in and hope for their happiness. However, one criticism I do have is that all the female faces look very, very similar. You end up relying on hair to tell people apart.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
My favorite thing is that the plot that Bertia pushes them towards makes sense. She knows the alternate endings and outcomes if the prince loses. She recognizes and embraces that this reincarnated world is her life, and there are consequences for choices. Her stubbornness ultimately pans out, as the fact she and not Heronia was the one to thaw the prince's heart made for a happier outcome for everyone. I might go as far as to say one of the themes is to be kind and do things for other people. A simple lesson to learn but hey, this is a shoujo manga.

Needless to say, I highly recommend this manga and anticipate I'll be revisiting this in the future on many, many re-reads when I'm tired of waiting on releases for manhwa that have gone on for many times the length (lol). Honestly, that's one of the best parts of this story--it ends.
