Season1: I loved the original Breaker

Season 2: I started disliking the first few chapters of Breaker New Waves, cause he had to start from scratch, but then got better, and ended up overall enjoying that series too. I say that, cause im feeling thats same thing that happened with season 2. But yeah I was definitely looking forward to season 3

Season 3: was reading as it was coming out, read first 10-15 chapters and didn't really care for, didn't like having to start fresh again. Wanted to focus on Siwon. So I gave up and stopped reading for a year. I forgot new season existed honestly. I cam back when chapter 71 was out and was like let me go ahead and read this, not remembering I had given up on it before. But yeah super glad I picked it up again and restarted. Got much much better. That new character is still there a bit, but switches between Siwon and Guymonung a bit. Feels it's like maybe 50-60 Siwon currently, maybe 20% new character, and other 10% Guymoung. To me feels like story/main character is still Guymoung. With the other 2 as more secondary characters. But yeah I'm back to loving the series.

Mediocrity Continues

The Breaker revolved around two characters - the 9AD, and his disciple. One was a mysterious character that had a powerful presence within the world and on panel. The other was a wet towel of a generic shonen character.

After writing a great story that revoled around the 9AD and culminated in a massive cliff hanger, the author decided to lean heavy on our generic shonen protagonist in the sequel - New Waves, and now in the third entry, Eternal Force. Here we are, many years later, and the story is still unable to get past that initial climax. Our generic shonen MC is still as uninspired and uninteresting as ever, and everything that made the world interesting is now more or less irrelevant.

The latest chapter featured a wonderful ass-pull that will undoubtedly culminate in the MC getting yet another miraculous power up, likely due to some ancient lineage or prophecy.

There's really nothing to stay for at this point. Some weak revenge plot revolving around the MC and his former instructor, and a myriad magical power up's.

I have been a fan of the first two seasons for a long while now and even though I was a bit disapointed when S3 started after some time it got really good.
Better focus on the important characters, better narative, basicly better everything. Even the art which was average in the begining of S3, mostly due to the author inexperience with the webtoon format, got way better. The story just needed time to develop, give it a try (or a retry), it's worth it.

The first two seasons I guess they would be called were really well done and had unique art style for a webtoon for its time. I read all the current chapters of this that are released and I found no joy or anything that made me even think of the first two seasons. Its a downgrade and we waited too long for it

A slow builder, but so far, so good

Is the backlash just bc of this new character? Or also that the pacing is slow? Those are the main complaints I've been seeing. For me, I'm just annoyed with the use of last chapter previews at the start of each new chapter (that's more of a subjective complaint tho).

Story-wise, it's doing a good job in building a plot that's going to involve a LOT of characters, esp considering that it's using a foundation with a large cast and a lot of vaguely connected side-plots from the last 2 seasons. All that is going to be needed to come together somehow and/or be resolved, and you'll rarely find a good story that can do that quickly.

So, while the pacing is slow, it's filling out the hanging plotlines left behind from the last season just fine and giving new situations and developments time to breath, which I appreciate. But as the chapters don't seem to be episodic, it might be a better story to binge read rather than read each chapter as they're released.

As for the new character, I'd be upset if the story focused solely around him or if he overtakes the MC in regards to the importance of the plot, but the character seems more like a comic relief, in order to keep the tone from being too dour, and an audience surrogate, to let the readers have time to get to learn the changes and development happening with Shioon since the last season (and considering our protagonist seems to be barely hanging in there and is suffering from all the trauma from the last seasons, as well as having these heavy responsibilities now, just focusing on him might make the tone of the story be too depressing and serious).

I'll admit that it may walk a thin line at times, but it's clear that the story's main focus and concern is on Shioon and hopefully, as he recovers from his own issues and we see more of the story unveil, the focus will keep on Shioon and the main stuff going on in the Murim. Personally, I anticipate that the story will use the parallels of this new character in order to shake up the MC or the readers; it all depends on how the author uses him, but there is still good potential with this character to make an impact if the character is used right.

Ngl, this has the makings to being a long (and potentially drawn-out) series. I recommend waiting for more chapters (maybe 50) to come out before starting. At nearly 30 chapters in, I only now feel like the plot regarding the series' main conflict is beginning to move.

Doesn't deserve the hate

The Breaker has been one of my favorite weekly treats since the very beginning, the sequel feverously lived up to its expectation. Now, with the advent of part 3, yes there was some disappoint with the change to webtoon art, however I have been reading webtoons and mentally the concept of storytelling remains to same as such I overcame this and accepted it for what it now is. The twists, and folds, the martial might and new buds in the making giving the reader a new perspective briefly.

The author(s) said to give them a chance, to give them time to flesh out the plot...and they do not disappoint! Siwoon has never looked better. The MC is fierce, determined, matured, and armed with comrades to compensate for his weakness. The negative comments from fans (old and new) have been premature, and I do invite you and others to take some time, get to ~chapter 30 before you start getting in a rut. This is the world of the breaker as it always has been, now let's see now the story unfolds.

Should Be Called Eternal Farce Instead

I waited after reading the first six or seven chapters to see how things would go.

Nothing more than a poor copycat of the first season. Plus the new MC is extremely unlikable. The author shoving him in our faces every chance he can get doesn't help. It's like he thinks forcing him onto us would make us like him more. Not going to happen, EVER!

Example. Latest couple of chapters.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
This fight should focus on Shioon only but the author can't help himself but to inject the new MC into the scene again and again with some stupid oh lets switch the case of files that the new MC will be the only to see the switch and try to stop it by fighting a much larger guy. While the fight with Shioon and the leader goes on. Just trash.

I own all the volumes of the past Breaker seasons. I won't be spending a single penny on this new farce one bit. This series is nothing without Shioon. Congrats on ruining what could have been a great sequel!

Checked in again and yes it does deserve the hate. The art is horrid compared to the old black and white flashback in the latest chapter. Also it seems the unwanted new MC has to be thrusted in EVERY chapter. The author is desperate forcing people to like him. His character hasn't changed and he's still extremely unlikable with the way he handles himself.

Shame the author couldn't bring one of the old characters up i.e Smiley Face ect ect and giving them a bigger role instead of inserting this new character. Just trash at this point regardless of the "let the author flesh the story out commenters". 20 plus chapters is enough to tell us how the story will go.

chapter 8 and i just caught myself skim reading because of how trashy the plot is.
art is a clear downgrade from s2, worse than any of their previous works after s2.
nostalgia is the only redeeming factor, on its own this would be just trash but as it stands i will keep reading until it does something offensively retarded.
