Once again an ordinary Japanese citizen is sent to another world to have a new life and pick up a harem. The hook is that the protagonist is an absolutely disgusting pig, a depressing NEET, that is to say a miserable shut in with no friends and no life who is kicked out onto the street by what I assume is his family. One fateful meeting with a runaway truck and he's reborn as a baby in a world of swords and sorcery, and has a chance to rebuild himself and his life from the ground up. The series follows his life from the age of five to adulthood, as he gets mixed up with all kinds of adventures and characters throughout.

The main character Rudeus is pretty much a pervert and a scumbag in a cute kid wrapper, and the series never lets you forget it, so he's pretty unlikable. On the other hand, I do appreciate his self awareness, that he knows his old life was mostly his own fault. I also really respect that he's chosen to make something of his new life through hard work more than the knowledge or wisdom he happened to bring with him from his old life [although that also helps him a great deal, enough that everyone mistakes him for a child prodigy]. For me, that helps balance out his less attractive traits. As the series goes on, Rudeus wants to be a BETTER man, not just a happier one. I'm not far enough in to know if he succeeds, but here's hoping.

If you can overlook his tendency to sexualize almost every female he meets, which you probably can if you're into anime, then it's bearable. There's enough else going on that I wanted to know where it's all going.

If this is just a simple isekai manga, I'd give it 10/10 but

The main character is repellent. In his "original" incarnation he's a loser who refuses to take any responsibility for how his life has turned out or the misery he inflicted on his family. In his re-incarnated form he is a 34 year old man in full possession of his previous memories in the body of a five year old child who gets sexually excited by his "peers" i.e. children. In addition to this he facilitates the various moral failings of the adults around him while manipulating a growing number of children into his proto-harem. All the time excusing his behaviour with self serving juvenile nonsense. Isekai as a genre is generally plagued by being unrepentant power fantasies, the better entries in the genre rise above this but there is nothing interesting about this to make it anything other than mediocre and the problematic elements are impossible to ignore.

I totally understand people enjoying different things. But considering this offers nothing interesting and is preoccupied with paedophilic titillation I genuinely don't understand why anyone would praise it. But then again people like Re:Monster so what do I know.

This manga is basically a hentai manga containing abuse and manipulation, with a 5 year old kid as the protagonist. He's 5 years old in his reincarnated self, and sexualizes his mother and another 5 year old girl.




It's really gross. The MC was also really unlikable as his former NEET self. I don't know what this manga was going for, but it isn't funny and it's downright gross how everything is a gag and a joke.

I can handle the blatant ecchi and harem, but the polygamy was a deal breaker. If it was approached in a different way maybe I would think differently, but I cannot seem to accept how the relationships in this story have developed. The story is built in such a way where you will see every kind of hentai trope, from milf to (mistaken) shotacon. I’ve only gotten to chapter 6, but sorry I don’t think this is the kind of manga I can take enjoy and take seriously.

This may be a genre that is becoming a standard plot line, but the fact that it stays away from the stereotypical under-powered main character who is always getting beaten up and winning in one move and who's main existence is too protect the main female character, makes this a more enjoyable read compared to 99% of manga these days that follow the typical shounen formula.

Rudeus has great talent, is always looking to progress and is a great strategist. A mix we just don't see much of in manga these days. Honestly I love seeing him "charm" other characters and the interactions with friends and family is just too cute.

Luckily I am not a reader of LNs so I have no complaints over the manga.

This is another series of the common japanese formula that is in fashion today. It repeats all of the same cliches and does not try to innovate at all. It seems content to just repeat the general formula of all "resurrected in another world" works to the letter. The good thing is, as mentioned before me by others, it is fast paced (comparatively) and it is a manga, so you waste less time absorbing the same amount of contents than you would if you read the novel and you can appreciate the drawings.

Good to read while you wait for other works' chapters.

Frankly, all the comments here are unanimous about reading the web/light novel instead. Doesn't speak highly of the manga does it? Yet as of this comment, the series has over 100 votes giving the series a perfect 10.

Strange, its like people are inflating the score because they're fans of a derivative work.

The light novel is a once in a generation master piece, hopefully the manga won't disappoint.
Very promising story filled with romance, adventure, plot twists and friendships.
Be patient with the first volumes, the story will get much better.

For those that complain that stuff in the novel are left out the beginning chapters, you need to understand that its very difficult for a light novel to transition into manga.
There are only so many pages you're allowed every chapter, and if the manga doesn't get traction the project will get axed. They Have to write with the intent of capturing a new fan base.. And sometimes that means skipping out side plots and details. The novel is there for those that want those details, the manga is there for those that want the visuals.

Please be patient and support it, don't let this amazing story get axed like mx0 did.
It would be a great tragedy.
