No good ending is precisely the reason why I like hentai genre - it is a lot more realistic that way. Because it is boring when important characters always have plot armor and nothing really bad ever happens to them. Or at worst something bad is attempted to happen, but hero always saves the day at the last second. It is like some kind of mental block in creativity that most authors have, with a huge unexplored universe behind it.
If you like stories that may hold a dark, disturbing psyche but always with a base of empathy and striving to understand the human condition then I'd recommend stories 2 and 5. They still had an exceedingly and somewhat overgeneralized poor vision of men like the rest, but they held together with a storyline that was substantial.
While briefly touching on the psychology of not being able to pull away from something that hurts you, this first story was too much meaningless hentai and too little psychology. And entirely too much cum. The BDSM psyche was definitely way off.
The second story improves greatly in abnormal psychology. In this one, the child's multiple personality develops very believably and accurately with current psychiatry. I found it a very heart breaking and disturbing, but insightful and more an empathetic look into the dark ability of the mind to save itself over gratuitous non-con.
AH, this story goes back to silly and demeaning.
I didn't like this one either; it was too hopeless.
This one went back to an interesting psychological look at how intrinsically selfish 'friendship' can be. I liked the way the mangaka took a complicated look at the main character's reactions and ultimate choices.
You know I don't like hentai, porn just isn't my thing, but I figured I ought at least read a few to be able to say that, yes I had read some. I wasn't fond of this manga either, but as far as hentai goes, I'm sure this is the cream of the crop. As the other reviews have stated, this has a Psychological tag for a good reason, it's really twisted.
Be warned, none of these stories have a happy ending.
This is some hentai...
Stories with no hope. All being abused and raped, both phisicaly and emotionaly.
Needles to say, the art was really good. Detales and well done.
Indeed very dark. At some point it even made me feel guilty for enjoying the manga. As these weman suffered, it was portrayed so realisticaly, that you couldn't not feel sorry for them, as they lost they inocennse and hope..
Every other person was cruel, and only taking advantage.
So hopless... made me sad..
Overall, a very good, and not just a simple hentai.
Seriously, one of the precious few H manga that really hit me right where it hurts. The dark and disturbing themes explored, combined with the "in your face" sexual scenes really doesn't pull any punches when it comes to gritty and brooding storytelling.
Anyone who's expecting something sweet and saccharine or something fun should step away from this manga now for the various stories will definitely get under your skin.
Overflow definitely pushes the envelope by thrusting you into the position of a voyeur being made to witness and possibly even experience, the psychological state, the suffering and tormented experiences of the different individuals. And rarely have I seen a H manga where a rape was written and drawn with enough care such so that it didn't degenerate into yet another "rape fantasy scene" or "cheesy sex scene".
Install from Seiai no Susume(yaoi) is another story that deals with the harsh realities of rape just as brilliantly.
Overflow is incredibly dark, and deals with themes of rape, multiple personalities and child abuse. As a result, it's a highly disturbing manga -- but if you like being disturbed, as I do, then this is the thing for you. What makes Overflow unusual is that while it's rape-based hentai, rape itself isn't dealt with lightly. What I mean to say is... The manga is narrated from the victim's point of view, and the repercussions rape has on the victim are explored in greater detail than I'm used to seeing in a hentai manga.
This is actually why Overflow is so disturbing. It features rape but doesn't make light of it -- which makes me feel very conflicted about enjoying this stuff. The psychological realism makes the hentai much more effective, but much more upsetting, too.
If such content offends you, you really shouldn't read this story.
But if you're willing to chance it, the art alone is worth it.
