What can be done if they keep the trash characters that Kishimoto created? It would be better if the setting was some hundreds years after so most of the characters wouldn't exist and the current author could be free to create a new cast as the original is pure trash...

interesting premises to add to shinobi life but it lacks Naruto's niche still.

I think for all strong points that Naruto has, it has always been the way a fight turned that really got me into reading the whole thing. Now while Boruto has points of nostalgia with most of the main characters have relations with the old series in one way or another, the excitement feels lacking for me.

Naruto has been of few nice twists and turns and while it's too early to call whether Boruto would deliver on that side, one thing that has made me not too enthusiast about it basically is how the fights feels lack of some edge. This edge is also somehow missing from suppossedly experts such as Naruto or Sasuke, as they fought new, but maybe not so new in concept, adversaries. Their performance as later generation was basically disappointing, compared to how Naruto present fights of old guys, such as the 3rd kage against Orochimaru or 4th kage against Tobi.

I feel like Boruto has a nice thing to add though, which is the ninja-science thing. An attempt to combine modern technology concept with chakra, something that is very viable and should add new aspect to how shinobi world works. But even in that regard, it also lacks the edge, as it doesn't neccessarily makes me feel very excited as they introduce seemingly trivial gadgets.

All in all, it feels like a Naruto-themed soap opera. Oh well, maybe cause it doesn't start as well as Naruto, it may get better with time. (Naruto had such a strong start but it rather declined towards it's ending). I'll give it 7 for now, and maybe update it accordingly if it gets any better or worse in the future.

Some things I really like about Boruto. The Otsutsuki’s, the main story and how Naruto and Sasuke works as characters. Boruto is both good and bad to me. But he’s mainly like a ecco. Saying the same thing as someone has said before.

The cyborg part about the story feels like a cheap ripoff of Dragonballs android story. Now at chapter 62 I’m pretty tired of the story, the character design and direction. Kuramas death was emotional. But all the good doesn’t protect this manga from it’s odd choices and direction.

I love Boruto in all honesty but you'll get more out of the anime then you will the manga.
It's not worth waiting monthly for and honestly it's just surviving off the popularity of Naruto.
There's a love hate relationship with this series because even though the characters are at times lovable this all happened because the writer didn't choose to solve this mess with Naruto.

They should have kept Naruto as the hero just like they did with Goku for dragon ball. But they needed a youth for the story but I wouldn't waste my time. You can come back to it yearly but there's not much going on in it currently to raise the hype.

Better than the Anime

I was only 18 episodes in before I decided to stop watching and wanting nothing to do with the series (or just Boruto as a whole) after that. Fast forward to February 2021 I finally got around to reading the manga and it only took me two and a half weeks to get caught up to the current chapter.

The only reason I felt invested in reading Boruto in the first place was because of

Not sure if I should continue after 44 chapters

I’m getting tired of reading this. The character development isn’t sufficient. Boruto is annoying and kind of selfish. Other characters are too comical in a clown ish way like Cho Cho. The plot lacks the same complexity as Naruto. It’s like they are just copy paste of superficial aspects of the original but in an inferior way.

The pairings are meh.

It has Potential

I have some mixed feelings about this one. The art style needs some work. It has very few shadows, which makes everything looks flat. Then, the setting has technology that the original series didn't have. This plays a significant part in the story and makes the whole thing feel almost like fan-fiction rather than an official spin-off.

Aside from that, I really don't have any other complaints. The story is pretty interesting, and the characters are pretty likable.

To me, it looks like a lot of the hate for this comes from people who did not like the romantic pairings from the end of the original series. However, I would argue that enough time passed in between the original series and this one that the characters could have had significant interactions with each other to develop the relationships we have, and that the authors just did not show us these. It's fine. There's nothing wrong with it. Maybe in the future we'll get some spin-offs to show how these characters ended up together?

Boruto is obnoxious and unlikable for a good bit of the beginning. I understand his reason for behaving that way, but I still don't agree with it by any means. He does get better with time, and is developing rather well, but I'm still not at the point where I can do more than tolerate him. The pacing is pretty good, and the overall story does not seem disjointed like the second half of Naruto, so that's an absolute plus. This series is honestly not bad at all, but it will definitely have to grow on me since I disliked Boruto in the beginning.

As far as the coupling goes, the two main couples have been obvious since the beginning, tbh. And I will not change my mind on that no matter what. Sasuke embraced Sakura in the first half of the series, and anyone who knows how big of a deal it is for a guy and a girl to hug in Japan, because that is seen as EXTREMELY intimate as kissing, would have understood all the implications behind that one gesture right then and there. Just read any old school samurai or romance novel or watch any old school Japanese samurai/rounin film. Hugging was generally the most romantic part of all those works. Also, when Hinata gave Naruto the confidence to fight Neji during the chuunin exam, plus knowing for certain that Sakura was never going to look at Naruto in romantic light halfway through Shippuden, I knew that there was a strong possibility for Naruto and Hinata to get together. I don't see how anyone could miss those things. Those two pairings have been pretty obvious for years. The others pairings work fine as well. Many of those were obvious, too.

I dont understand all the butthurt people about the pairings....who cares, read it a little and it does make sense...its not like kishimoto ever went into great detail about any of the characters personal life besides Naruto....i agree the art could be better but i think that will improve with time...I'm actually happy to see this because i always felt Naruto's youth was "rushed" and i wanted to see more of his school life, normal stuff like "actually" becoming a "chunin" and "jonin" in more detail. The normal life activities not rushed blow up war, gruesome, child to adult maturity. Naruto never enjoyed his childhood or daily ninja life it was rough and rushed, i only hope that maybe the slice of life, school life will be more emphasized in this manga.

The ending to Naruto was so bad. The end couples (aside from Shikamaru and Temari) didn't make sense and the one guy who should have died, didn't.

Now add this. A story about their kids who are just poor imitations of the original. It's bad. So bad.
