This series exceeded expectations. It is unavoidably incredibly problematic by premise alone, but otherwise it would be a near universal recommend.
At its best, it evokes shades of Tatsumi Yoshihiro's portrayal of the gekiga style in A Drifting Life. The work feels unusually personal for the author. There's a cynicism from experience tempered by a genuine love for the genre and a cautious excitement to embrace the future of it. There's a lot of great scenes discussing the ero manga industry, the artists in it, and what draws them to the genre.
Outside of the meta aspects, the characters are likeable with clear interesting flaws. They both start out sure of what they want and why, but towards the end they've found new paths, new world views, and new reasons for doing what they do. The fact that they have good chemistry is the cherry on top.
Overall, this is a manga that would see some really interesting discussion if it saw a wide English release. Unfortunately, the characters' age as minors is integral to the plot both mechanically and thematically so that's going to be an understandably huge deal breaker for a lot of people.
Overall though, if you like plot with (and about) porn, then I highly recommend this one.
