Pretty people, likable personalities, wish that the plot could have been explored in more detail. The whole story felt like a wonderful introduction to something more which never came.
Too jumpy

I don't even know what's going on between some scenes at all. It's so jumpy and and complicated. Not to mention that it's quite boring. I dislike how the scenes jump here and there all of a sudden. like for example, when they fight, all of a sudden, they won already. Lame ya know! But i like the drawing.
Phew! :)

So I bought it on a whim and was really worried whether or not it'd be a total waste of money. Luckily it wasn't! Not that it was perfect or that there wasn't anything wrong with it.
It was a bit confusing at times because it didn't exactly progress chronologically. I was a bit lost on what point in time the scenes were portraying since the relationship between Dietrich and Hildebrand continued from adolescence into adulthood. Still the storylines themselves were good: really sweet, touching and above all funny.
The characters were also rather likeable, especially Hildebrand as he was a bit more consistent throughout the book. Dietrich was more scrambled for lack of a better word. His attachment to Hildebrand was endearing however and made me want to root for him even if he was a bit of an idiot at times...
In terms of seme and uke, this story didn't really follow convention (which is good.) Hildebrand was strong, capable and even agentive considering the fact that he was merely a servant to the king. An advisor but a servant none the less... The king on the other hand was successfully manipulated by Hildebrand on more then one occasion. He was like a petulant child most of the time, got himself into trouble and was rescued by Hildebrand. All this strangely didn't make him less likeable, just cute.
The side characters were cute too though not fleshed out enough, in fact the whole story would have been better if it had been a bit longer and more thought-out. It was good as is but had potential for more.
The thing I loved most about it was the connection to the Dietrich sagas and the songs of Niebelung. For people who know the original poems well, this manga might not be of any interest to them, but for someone like me this book really piqued my curiosity! The setting and characters in relation to history, being resurrected like this was awesome. I wish there were more mangas like this...
Now, there was in fact also one completely unrelated short story at the end. It surprised me and I was a bit disappointed because I would have rather read more about Dietrich and Hildebrand. But the one shot wasn't bad either. It revolved around the yakuza, which is a theme I generally like. It was a touching hidden feelings type story.
Oh and the art was superb if you like Megumu Minami's style. All in all, I would recommend this. It was definitely worth reading and I'll absolutely read it again too...

well first of all I thought this was very confusing....and also somewhat boring. This story is a parody of The Song of the Nibelungs a german saga. I don't know what other people might think but ..well I'm german so I know the original XD...thats probably why I didn't like it. The art was ok but there was not much development of the characters.
love this one

This is a really nice story, which happens to be loosely based in history - Dietrich mainly. The artwork is beautiful, with nice detail. This is developed well and moves at a good pace. There is enough yaoi content to satisfly those yaoi fangirls. You care about Dietrich and Hildebrand, and feel for them when things go awry. (Don't want to give things away......) Hildebrand is definitely a plotter. The ending is really nice and satisfying as well. I highly reccomend this 1.
