manhwa vs novel

If you haven't already I highly recommend reading the novel, the manhwa is an okay read but if I'm comparing it to the original novel the manhwa is actually pretty disappointing. idk if maybe the manhwas adapt author wanted to change things to appeal to a wider audience but they've changed so many of the most important details from the novel that it changes the entire tone of any serious situation that Radan goes through, it makes Radans suffering and struggle to survive seem almost like nothing even happened to him. He's a victim of horrific abuse both in his past and in the present but the manhwa makes it seem like he went through nothing. The manhwa almost paints a different picture of both Radan and Leshaks character that feels downright disrespectful.

about Leshak from the novel and Radans suffering:

Leshak in the novel is a horrible abusive rapist after he gets Radan back from the Prince, he shackles him, beats him, rapes him and even breaks his ankle but the manhwa glosses over all of that and just skips it making readers think Leshak isn't that evil or guilty. It changed the entire tone of the story and it leaves a bad taste in your mouth tbh. In the novel the people around Leshak call him out and condemn him for the rape and acknowledge that what he did was horrible but in the manhwa it just makes it seem like what he did wasn't a big deal.

I like the MC's but...

The unbalanced power dynamic between them makes me uncomfortable. Plus, the romance-aspect is really really fast to develop, which, given their positions, is a bit unrealistic. Uke is at the complete mercy of the Prince, who despite seeming to have a reputation for being upright and standing for justice, is putting the uke in a position antithetical to it. The Prince has literally any option available to him to find out if uke is the assassin and of all things he chooses sexual coercion to "test" uke's claim to being a prostitute. The Prince deciding to wait until uke wants him? How generous (rolling my eyes). Doesn't that mean the uke basically failed the Prince's prostitute test? Besides, the Prince deciding to court uke doesn't cancel out the fact that uke is only allowed his own agency only as long as the Prince wills it. Uke can only kill. His last resort, with absolutely no middle ground, unfortunately. At least the uke has that power.

So why am I still planning to read this after my critical review of the first 10 chapters? For some shallow reasons. The Prince is a very rare blonde haired ML that I find attractive. His guards are good at providing comic relief, and I really like them. They agree that the Prince's behavior is out of character and not at all upstanding. The uke's power is cool. Seeing the uke get justice for his cruel upbringing will be satisfying (if I don't end up dropping this before it finally happens).
