Koi no Katachi

Description

A father and son love each other dearly. But when Emily, a girl from Kazui's past, visits them in Japan, their relationship starts to crumble under the threat of their own thoughts. . .

There is also another one by the same name scanlated by nodeadline by the same author but a whole different story.
Basically one doctor is in love with kazui (not sure if it's the same one from nakama version,) and another dr is in love with him, it's quite a sad and tragic story, but its a good one.

2 different stories with unfortunately the same title

Having read both manga, the Nakama story about father (Kazui) and son love vs the NoDeadline story about 2 doctors, one in love with Kazui and the other willing to be endure anything to stay be the other doctor's side I must say I prefer the NoDeadline story. Dark and sad but still able to evoke sympathy for the main characters in spite of or perhaps because of their despicable yet desperate acts. Great story with a flat simplistic drawing style. 9/10 for the NoDeadline story, 3/10 for the Nakama story (love Nakama scanlation group but Chi-Ran's story here shallowly treats a taboo topic that has been done better elsewhere).

what i just read the full story or not so i'll withold judgement until i feel bothered to find the whole book. what i just read is...a relationship between father and son? whatever, abuse of power is cool in yaoiland.

edit:
reread them and it is as bad as i remember. i like incest, but the predatory kind with everyone thinking it is normal just make me mad somehow. it's like reading cardcaptor sakura with the teacher and the elementary student love. lolicon and shotacon is nice, but stop making it like it is normal!

Society only presents to us a very pigeon-holed view of what makes up 'acceptable' relationships. This manga is wonderful at teaching about a type of love and way of living that is not mainstream. One only needs to read with an open mind and remind oneself to analyze what the difference is between what one truly believes to be love and what society has programmed into one's subconscious to believe.

Who are we to say what is manipulation and when a child can 'officially' be allowed to know what they want? Who are we to judge what is 'sick' and 'perverted?' Who are we to say one cannot love their sibling or their parent? It may not be for us, but who are we to stop someone else? Wrong and right is not so black and white as Christianity has tried to teach the masses for eons of oppressive years. Does a 14-year-old child's passionate feelings and beliefs only become 'real' or tolerable to society when they turn a magical 'adult' age? Do feelings of 'sexual love' only become acceptable when a person is unrelated to us by blood? To me, all these little divisions are silly and boxed in. Humans are far more complicated than that. I completely understand and respect someone being squicked though. That is their right and they have entitlement to it and to share it when one asks them what their opinion is. (Like this comment board here!)

Beautiful story, indeed. I am not a fan of Chi-ran's art style, but her story was truly touching to me. I can totally understand lots of people being 'squicked' but that is a big difference from 'disgust.'

Of course, there is always the possibility of abuse in a relationship, regardless of age, and all those, again: regardless of age, should be entitled to help from an abusive situation. And that is something completely unrelated to this story, in my mind.

And finally, here's a quote that made me laugh and ponder because I find SM to be of a personal fascination and interest (not necessarily true of the majority!):
"When you love someone a lot, you'll want to tie that person tightly to your side. but it is not possible to do that in reality, right? But SM allows you to physically tie that person up."

as you can see fr the synopsis above, this is one hell of a depressing mood kinda story but it is beautiful in its own way, it speaks of how people often take love for granted... the art is lovely and the expressions are conveyed well thru it. this is one of those truly rare manga which brings tears to my eyes, do have a read!

regarding the nodeadline one- I found this to be really sad and heartbreaking, it made me cry at the end of it.
nakama one- this was a side story to koi ni narumade, yeah it's odd but this is chi ran so it's to be expected.
both are ok.

I don't get what all the fuss is about, I simply liked this manga and enjoyed reading but in the same time I didn't find any thing special around it. yes, it gives some tragic atmosphere and some abnormal aspects of relationships but those are not so deep and seem kind of rushed. I think mangaka could work better than this but it seems she has hesitated in middle of working and has given up the idea of developing these points.

anyway my point is this: yes, it has incest, some SM stuff and sexual abnormality but it is not some thing really serious or shocking. actually if you look at it more closely it is more romantic than being abusive since love is involved very deeply. however, as I said before it is not very special piece of work since it lacks in many basics like its art which I found it kind of raw and amateurish, but still it is a good read. try it if you don't have a moral issue against incest and such. ^^
