Crayon Days - Daikirai na Aitsu

THE ART IS FANTASTIC I could stare for hours. xD it's awesome!!!
PROMISING CHARACTERS (GAHHH!!!!) omg, I'm so happeeeee. (: The characters are all unique personalities (atleast, those introduced so far are), and I CANT WAIT to see how they are all going to get along!!!
BEST LEAD EVER. She's amazing. Bright, strongwilled, open-minded, and an artist!
AWESOME PLOT LINE IDEA (I WANT MORE NOWWW) YAY! I have yet to read a manga about a girl artist at an art school! C: IM SO EXCITED TO READ THIS. I can't wait, I really want to see what happens and how she will grow!!! GAHH

My plot points aren't the best right now, as I've only read 1 chapter of this manga.
BUT THEY SHALL ALL HOLD TRUE.
Seriously. I love all of Chiba Kozue's works, and this one has promise that it might turn into my favorite. I AM SO FRICKING EXCITED.

The art is very beautiful and there are lots of bishies (with the exception of the main character, Shima-san looks plain and her style is... smh So I'm guessing someone will give her a make over at some point in the series and then Seiji will get attracted to her or sth)

I am put off with the parakeet, as if Shima doesn't already spell as loser, adding the bird is the finishing blow (but it has its own uses I guess but personally I don't think the bird is really needed -_-")

BUT the story gets better on the second half of the first chapter. The first part is your typical shoujo eyesore (fluff and sparkles).
Good thing Shima didn't turn out to be a completely useless and untalented fool. I just don't like lead girls who can't do anything.

The plot is has just started to thicken so there's rly nothing much to say yet except I hope they update soon coz it's starting to get pretty interesting. :/

And let me end this comment with Sarasa's (Crayon Days) quote:

I guess there's gunna be a love triangle (or square) soon enough. :v

Because She is the Heroine

I really disliked this manga. I've read a ton and my tolerance for awful is really low at this point so maybe it is enjoyable for people just starting to read manga.

The graphics are pretty generic shoujo. Not great, not bad.

The plot is awful and boring. Any question about why something is happening can easily be explained by "Because she is a Heroine". How did she get into this prestigious school when she sucks at painting for the most part? Why does she have a bird when it adds to the plot for one, maybe two, chapters then disappears? Why does he care about this girl? Why does he fall in love?

Everything feels so forced and un natural. Overall a disappointing and vanilla series.

So far this manga is GREAT. Just like her other inspirational manga 'Hitoribocchi wa Samishikute'. I LOVE the main character - she's so strong.

I love the plot line so far,

a bumpkin going into a city art school to achieve her dreams and not be branded as 'ordinary'. She then runs into an art genius and meets two girls which is dating each other. Breaking one of the statues the females made she has to take a picture of nude guys. Once again meeting with the mysterious genius which is not what he really is.

Can't wait for more!

The excitement of the reviewer below me is quite infectious. Haha.

In all fairness, this looks good so far. Not dropping it just yet. Hope I won't get disappointed. Looking forward to a carefree shoujo manga and everything that it entails.

The pacing is a bit jumpy for my taste but that's Chiba-sensei for you. I haven't read the mangaka's works in a while so I've forgotten how I sometimes get whiplash with her style of storytelling. I think it also has something to do with the translation(still, thanks so much to the hardworking scanlators!!)

The girl is a bit disappointing at the start but she gets better. You think she's a strong willed girl with a passion for art. Turns out she just wants to be special, which I totally get, but the way she does things...it makes her come off as a bit halfhearted. (But she does love painting, I'll give her that)

In the beginning, we learn she jumps into the opportunity to enter a famous art school which we learn is hard to get in to. Upon entering, she meets people and feels like she shouldn't have come but I don't know if she's joking or not because she keeps saying similar things (that pretty much signals self-esteem issues) with a chirpy attitude.

Despite that, I totally give the heroine props for

kicking the jerk(the genius-hero apparently) in the nuts (though it does bother me that he doesn't immediately crumple, just caught surprised at how offended the heroine looks)...BTW, she kicks him for insulting her about being untalented or something and did nothing about his suddenly fondling her only minutes before insulting her.(even though he uses the excuse of wanting her as a model)

The guy is a bit like Natsume from Gakuen Alice and there are very similar tropes at play here.

I can't love the guy just yet like I love Natsume because I still don't know him though I have a feeling I will despite being emotionally stunted(see 'jerk' like in other shoujo[not Gakuen Alice because Natsume isn't a jerk!!] mangas) but we never know what the author could do as we get to know the characters.
