The manga is quite comedic along with the serious like art; the story really gives us a good look at a point in the Yuri-fan career that many male yuri-fans probably experience at least once: the role of someone who is not needed in a girls love story (a 3rd wheel).

Hanadera makes many references to different Yuri titles mostly being actual real life works like Okujou no Yurirei-san, Aoi Hana, Sasameki Koto, Yuru Yuri, Kurata Uso's own works,other Yuri publications, and some yuri-esque stuff like Tamayura. Everytime one of these reallife works is referenced, there is a copyright note written with it, so it seems that the author really has to go out of his/her way to get permission to use these references.

And, amazingly, this manga has not even had chapter 1 translated by any fan yet; tho that is understandable with yuri-hime manga usually not having assisting hiragana to read the difficult kanji.

Later in the story, there really is actual Yuri present, although Hanadera tends to miss out on those moments, going on with his fantasizing without realizing there is some truth to his fantasies.
