The ending was not my ideal one, yet it's an ending full of hope. It's a bittersweet one in my eyes.

THE ORIGINAL INTENDED ENDING:
I am so glad that it was not the authors ORIGINAL intended ending. BUT that ending would have been very fitting too because: when they reunite at university, we find out Heechan pursues a career in the movie industry, in part due to Jinhyuk's dad's movies. The original ending of them meeting again in university and then just ending there would have been very fitting since it could be implied that Heechan would go down the same road as Jinhyuk's father and becoming so invested in movies/directing, being away months at a time and it putting a strain on their relationship. This ending would have been also fitting because they would meet again both as adults that helped each other out as hurt teenagers when they were in highschool.

THE ACTUAL ENDING WE GOT:
Rather, the author changed the ending to a happy yet such a hopeful/sad one, since now they are officially happy together as boyfriends after 14 years BUT they are not open about their relationship to their friends, coworkers and neither can get public congratulations if they get married. Even worse, it is implied that their relationship will stay strong even if Jinhyuk will be lonely months at a time when Heechan is away in another island/country working on a film. I'm conflicted because I would have rather Heechan keeping his films in the same city as where Jinhyuk works since that way it would be easier for them to see each other rather than Jinhyuk feeling lonely. I am also a bit conflicted about the ending since I hope movies/directing is not more important than their romantic relationship, and does not become a parrarel of how Jinhyuk's father's movies/directing was more important than a father-son relationship
