Me sees the title : "oh! This looks like it's going to be fun and crazy! I love crazy shit! Funny hijinks! Ohhhh let's see how it's gonna be "
2 hours later...
Me: "wtf is this generic cultivation (🔴) crap... Where's the funny?? Why is the serious action always about fighting some wild boars (🐗)?"
"This is... MISLEADING ADVERTISING!!!"
Good part = the cringe can get fun; Bad part = when it tries to be serious
The beginning was so cringe that I felt compelled to stop and write this short rant. No, it's not the funny cringe. More like the sad pity cringe... however, it's still more fun than the other parts of this manhwa. When it takes itself too seriously it gets awful, like being thrusted and forced to sit through mind bumbling unskippable cut scenes in a video game! (Think of Pokemon Sun Moon level of bad...)
Writing-wise, the dialogues and developments are unoriginal. It has this usual beautiful girl enters everyone stares at her level of cringe that Rental Girlfriend has, the predictable simping that ensures, the predictable street thugs, the predictable training arc... Every single events here have been done by some other series, but better. Bonus: for absolutely no reason as with many other Chinese manhua, the mom is a "Loli" 💀
I don't know if it's a localization fail or not but... It's so brazenly generic. Like, this is some middle school level of writing with the usage of all the "Bro" like I'm witnessing discord chat taking a life form, or everyone talks like random street thugs. It's so bad, it makes Dragon Ball Evolution look good.
To make this bearable, I've coped a strategy resulting from noticing that about every male characters here talk like Gakuto from Prison School. Once I've reconciled this resemblance, i gained some strength to continue forward.
However, the worse is yet to come... At chapter 17 comes the dreaded action and cultivation part... Which are boring as hell. The lore dump blah blah, about the spiritual energy and power up method... Like what's the point in developing this? It is not even unique from other cultivation series!! It was such a constant chore to get through (same as the 9000 other cultivation crap out there).
Also, you've probably noticed, but the author sure relies to rely on talk more than showing when it comes to the exposition.
Conclusion
This series has this strong LOOK AT MY OC UwU energy when it doesn't take itself too seriously and can get a bit fun. like so bad that it's good like Neo Yokio, but not that good. It's somewhat endearing when that happens.
However, it's awful when it comes to serious plot points. The art is polished though. Should you read this? Only if you are curious and masochistic enough wanting to experience the awfulness of it!
Tldr: Endless lore dump, exposition coupled with Uneventful and predictable developments.
Recommendation for the author :
Either abandon all serious and go full gag because I feel like I'm being tortured with the "serious" parts.
