Refreshing take on the world of cultivation

The manhua is good. Faithful to the novel. Unfortunately, parasites from manhuaus and mangatoon are "translating" it. I only suggest reading this if you are willling to go to the novel when the quality of the translation drops. The novel is amazing, and I kept following the manhua to get visuals while I read the novel to understand what is going on.

Here are some strong points:

1 fresh take on the world of cultivation. The name of the manhua is very relevant. The 40 milleniums are how the world of cultivation and the universe in general became what they are today. It is also important because the main character aquires knowledge from the ancient times, the beginning of those 40k years.

2 - no boring, repetitive bad guys, no constant new enemies formed through stupid situations. The manhua shows a bit of the trash young master early on, but doesn't repeat it all the time.

3 - The society where he starts is not based on power and power alone. It has a legal system and it is enforced. This is a novel with space exploration, so he encounters many other kinds of society.

4 - the novel is very " human" in the best sense of the word. It deals a lot with sacrifice and the greater good. If you dislike the mentality and behavior of the people when the MC is on his first train ride (before he becomes a cultivator) then this is not for you.

5 - Romance exists, but it manages to dodge every single stupid trope that makes romance annoying in these kinds of novels.

6 - the cultivation system is very basic, a good thing in my opinion. The MC is often rushing against time, so he advances way faster than most people. Later on we are introduced to different takes on the system, and the MC will adapt.

7 - the tech is interesting. He is a competent crafter and inventor. The "iron man" type suits of armor are a fun addition.

I highly recommend this only if you are willing to read the novel when the translation becomes shit.

Pretty good but ruined by translation

Starts quite interesting and gets progressively better but at one point(around the 100th chapter cant remember the exact chapter) when mangatoon takes over the translation it becomes incomprehensible and unbearable to read. Had to drop it since i didnt find any other translation.

Another sub-par novel adaption

Starts off good but then in later arcs the translation turns to complete garbage and the story becomes incomprehensible. Events occur offscreen and are referenced casually, characters appear and disappear, as do items, skills and enemies. If you've read many webnovel to manhua adaptions you should be familiar with all these traits of shitty adaptions. Shame, the initial story was interesting.

Different and interesting

I think people who have read enough cultivation/isekai to be hungry for a twist will find this to be a pretty interesting experience. It infuses a lot of science fiction content into the genre, and the setting itself brings different advancement concepts into play.

The setting is a future where advances in science have led to cultivation being deeply ingrained into society. During the ensuing forty thousand years of cultivation there have been major ups and down for Humanity, including a long "dark ages" period of collapse and a slow recovery. At the time of the story, Humanity has entered a new golden age, but the ever-present danger of demon attack means that becoming lax could lead to another downfall. The rise of the demons comes plausibly out of the science fiction style setting, as well, which is also a nice touch.

The beginning of the story focuses a bit on the MC's background of poverty and scavenging, but soon shifts to his efforts to move beyond that. To reach his goal to become a master refiner (an artifact maintainer and creator) he must enter one of the top cultivation-focused universities. To do that, he will have to show great potential for cultivation, in addition to the normal scholastic requirements. The MC's disadvantaged background that was focused on survival meant that he didn't have resources available to foster his cultivation potential, but it has shaped his attitude in ways that will benefit him greatly as he faces challenges on his road to cultivation.

While the MC experiences rapid progress and success during the course of the story, he does not become stupidly OP, and his ability to work with others on common goals becomes as important to his success as his significant personal strength.

Some of the more tedious parts of the cultivation genre are thankfully reduced here. For example, as of chapter 115 there has only been one family that does that thing where they focus on revenge and jealousy and harming the MC, even though it leads to their own downfall (big brain move there). While they will probably be followed by another at some point, the bulk of people (including opponents) the MC encounters are more mentally-balanced, and manage to grasp that they are part of a society that must function if it is to survive.

As one puts it, "It is because we are cultivators that we have to put others before ourselves. It is a cultivator's job to protect the common people!"

It is not a romance/harem-focused story. The MC does have close relationships with other people and is loyal to others, but his focus in these years is always on his goals. Perhaps he will include some romance as he progresses on his career goals.

Caveat 1: Look at the list of early chapters in the table of contents before you dive in. Some sites have two sets of chapters 1-5, with the first set being very poorly translated. If you are reading on a site like that, just skip the first set... the difference between them and the second set is like night and day.

Caveat 2: Proceed with caution if you are afraid of some occasional walls of text (especially earlier in the story). There are points where new lore or detail is introduced, and they don't waste a lot of pages on presenting that, so that means there will be one or more paragraphs to read at such times.

Give it a chance

First 10 chapters or so are a bit of an information dump.
Stuck with it, as it quickly develops from there.

Cultivation system is fair and balanced, with no OP MC and no unrealistically mean/cruel bad guys who come along just to get beat up by MC to show his morality.
Universe is deep and consistent, exaplaining everything about how and why it exists as it does; good guys and bad guys are also both, in the end, believable. No overly lucky/evil/good/etc good OR bad guys. everyone is relatable to an extent (compared to many of the other cultivation manga/manhua/etc).

All that said; tranlsations are very poor, and get worse later on. It gets more and more difficult to deciper meaning, wasting time and ruining enjoyment.

If this was better translated, I'd rank this an easy 9/10

The LN for this is really good that's the only reason I'm giving it this score I would however make it higher if it wasn't for the translation. The other review here said he was a bit confused during the information dumps and all I have to say is that's the translations fault it uses mostly literal terms Or just makes terms up Like the main characters name being Joe Lee instead of Yao Li or Crystalline Brains instead of Crystal Processors The list goes on like the stages being defined as gas refinement stage and coagulation stage and so on the Stages go as this Refinement Stage 1-Peak, Building Foundation Stage, Foundation Stage, Nascent Soul Stage but here they just described what happens in those stages and decided to use that as the names for them. I could keep going but what to take from this is Its a great Story with a shitty translation and if anyone wants to make their own translation you have all my support

Surprisingly good

While it's not a great series, I was pleasantly surprised by this one, in big part because the first 5 chapters or so are really bad, the story makes no sense, the char is presented in a very disconnected way and the art is quite bad. Surprisingly after the bad start it takes a more generic route but with a mix of sci-fi mixed in the cultivation trope, which is not common. The manhua suffers from lengthy and uninteresting history data dumps but other than that, the MC is quite interesting, not an idiot, nor a prick, thou he's underhanded it goes well with his background and his growth and actions mostly make sense. As for the story, it's a generic cultivation story but set in a distant future, to be honest, even with all the history lessons it's quite confusing to me so I didn't understand all of it, like, there are hundreds of worlds but I've never seen him get onto a spaceship, he travels by train and some flying bikes and others. Also, the art improves a lot, by now (ch 109) it's way better than what it was at the start, both in style and flow.
All in all, a decent cultivation story with some new ideas thrown to the mix.

Edit: The story keeps getting better along with the MC that matures steadily and 150 chapters is a very well rounded character, even his romance is well done and down to earth, not a sublimated fairy-tale kind of love. And the fusion of fantasy, sci-fi and cultivation that felt weird at first is quite interesting too. Main flaw is still how hectic or convoluted it is, at times the space-time situation change so fast so often that's hard to grasp what's happening, maybe the novel takes time to fill those gaps and explains some of the hanging concepts.

For those who complain about translation, it's your own fault for choosing to read the manhuaus version, don't read that crap (it's a good general rule for absolutely all manhua). The mangatoon translation is decent if not good and there are a few agregators that have those if you don't like the app, like night comics. It's 100 chapters behind but has steady releases, it's the price to pay for reading something coherent.
