After many years and as a grown woman, I am in a mood to read shoujo manga. I just want something predictable and easy to read... even if the characters could be my own children. Haha. Pior to reading Seishun Note, I read A Hedgehog in Love. They're both pretty much the same story...? But, I guess that's how it its with most shoujo.
Both have heroines who begin by making friends with the friendless hero, then developing an unrequited love. The heros are sullen, expressionless and have family troubles. The girls fight to bring them out of their shell. That's it.
But, I liked this one a lot more. Despite Hedgehog in Love being 25 chapters and the characters entering a relationship (you'd expect it to have better development), it had a crybaby heroine who felt insecure and depressed over every little thing. At no moment in the manga did she stop to think about anything or anyone but the guy she wants to date. The characters were way too one dimensional.
This heroine is also a crybaby, but she's very cheerful and bounces back from her struggles very easily. This one is cute and breezy. She actually has a sweet relationship with one of the females in her group and a nice rapport with the other boy. I wish those two side characters were more developed. But, hey, at least she cared about more than just chasing a boy (at times). The plot kind of meanders. I don't feel like it had a clear plot structure or climax. Just kinda goes on and the abruptly ends.
7/10 for being an ok read. Is it the best thing ever? Nope. But, if you are in the mood for fluffy shoujo (like I was) you could do worse than this one.
The story was kinda cliche, filled with only stereotypical characters. With the Happy go lucky MC (which I usually prefer either way), the beautiful best friend, another handsome friend (which is somehow always a womanizer) and the cold-blackhaired-tsundereish-male lead lol with family problems. The ending was way too rushed as well, and characters were kinda shallow
Because I've read so many Shojo Mangas this one was really just basic and the storyline was so typical too. /:
