ecchi is kind of overdone
by trunkallergy

Rating: 6.0  / 10.0
The fan service is pretty packed in, to the extent that it seems forced at times. It's weird because overtly forced ecchi is a characteristic you see in manga that are a lot worse written than this one, which is actually quite a good story with good writing and a likeable, "open pervert" mc. And with that in mind, it kind of makes it a bigger shame that fanservice seems to be prioritized over the flow of the story as often as it is. Still worth a read though. Action scenes are *extremely* shounen though. Like I didn't even really understand what "shounen" meant until I read this, and then it immediately clicked. Everyone yells out their attack move names and monologues their strategies out loud in battle. Little hard to get past at times tbh.

And all of this only gets worse as the story goes on. Past like chapter 60, the ecchi turns to near porn and the plot is just random power level ups when needed in fight. At that point it's like a 4. I'm really not sure how this series has an 8 average

Is it "worth my time...?"
by Lost Rabbit

Rating: 5.0  / 10.0
Jump back to 2010-11, around the time this series first came out as a manga. I limited myself to mainly reading shounen harem series, with the usual trinity of action, comedy, and romance. While action was never a must have, the ideal series for me would be capable of shifting between some serious fights/battles to that of silly, romcom shenanigans amongst the characters going about their daily lives. To this day I've grown far beyond this niche, as to now be more enamored toward seinen series that push away from the typical cliches I had normally enjoyed. Sora no Otoshimono, Yuusha ga Shinda!, and Dragons Rioting are some of the exceptions I still currently enjoy (and would recommend), mainly due to their self awareness with cliches and how they choose to handle them for making an entertaining story.

Moving past all this personal babbling of mine, I originally did like Trinity Seven; but as the story's progressed over the years, I find myself at a loss for what exactly has really progressed to begin with. With claudiofd bringing up some good points, I'm not sure how to see the MC as either a hero utilizing evil powers he's stuck with, or some kinda antihero (like from Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou) that can't help but be a good guy.

The names and explanations of powers are all over the place, and the execution for them is also quite messy to keep track of, with the generic "magical symbols" being utilized constantly. Opponents fought are just as generic, be it disposable fantasy creatures or some bad guy that ends up with Fairy Tail syndrome and joins the cast at the end of the day. Hell,
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
with the story originally being about the MC wanting to obtain great power to save his childhood friend, it has her being the main villain that also wants to be with him, but can't for reasons X,Y, and Z.
I don't find any of these characters compelling toward whatever they're fighting for, especially with something like death being pretty absent from the overall fights. Tension? Grief? Loss? Nope, you won't be finding any of that here!

(Except for one character's backstory, but hey she got over it pretty fast...)

I also have to bring up how the harem/romance aspect is pretty fucking "meh." While I tend to like seeing true harem endings to stories, I find myself rooting for only one particular character, mainly due to her development as the "ice queen who's heart was melted by the MC's kindness." The fact that she expresses more emotions compared to the rest of the gang has me wanting to see this monogamous relationship happen more than ever, and that's something I've never really wanted out any harem series...

Beyond all my generalized complaints, the bulk of my issues stem from the question I asked above: Is this series worth my time? With pacing so slow and nothing on the line, five or six of years of this series being drawn out has me figuring that it's not even some entertaining series to pass the time with. So overall, "No" is what I'd say toward recommending this.

Meh...Average Harem Comedy
by zeidrich

The art is decent. The character design for the Lilith is good, but the others look very much the same. Not much is explained. MC seems to develop powers easily without any training. Other characters are outlandish and typically 1-dimensional with punchlines and gag comedy rather than characterization.

The premise isn't bad, but the author glosses over significant power development and plot progression making the reader confused about the story. Not a bad manga, just average. I'll pick it up again if this gets more serious or actually has funny jokes. Most jokes are rehashes or fall flat.

Rare excellent main character development

Slow development at the beginning, but the buildup story is quite nice. A rare gems, I like this manga a lot. Though the drawing initially is bad, but the followed chapter becomes better and better.

It doesn't try to follow cliche main protagonist and he is unique in his own. His harem is also legitimate and doesn't feel forced at all, instead they are all happy.

The females like the main character too easily.

The female characters just seem to immediately fall for the main character's indiscriminate and frequent advances, as if there is nothing they dislike. Always blushing, quickly falling for the powerful male lead and loving his perverted personality as if his horniness were considered a personality plus. It is hardly deserving of the "romance" tag; it'd have been better if it were just a porn with a plot. Although the typical porn with a plot story contains a wider range of emotions than this.

Simplistic and childish, boring and generic. Though at least the protagonist isn't a pathetic sadsack. He sure forgot about his cousin fast, kinda makes him a dick. His childhood friend, the fated true love of his life, and there's no angst at her "death", he happily accepts his harem and the ecchi hijinks they get up to. Meh.

Great harem

The main character isn't a idiot. Thats like a +6 alone. The series manages to balance the story with small slapstick elements instead of hurr hurr, tsundere action every four seconds. The story jumps around a tiny bit, but its easy to follow. Plenty of fanservice which I haven't gotten tired of yet in this series.

Honestly, with only one or two exceptions. this is the best harem manga of its kind. It puts To love ru/darkness to shame. It doesn't have a idiot protagonist, just a perverted one (but not to the point where he is a idiot) and is self-deprecating at the fact that the guy is pretty much getting a true harem (instead of alternating between two girls with a bunch just hanging around).

I can't believe there aren't more harems following this formula, instead of the atypical idiot protagonist followed by slapstick comedy and nonsensical storylines.

I'm personally a fan of To Love-Ru and Rosario+Vampire as well, and I think that this manga has the potential to surpass those two. Unlike TL-R and RosaVam, Trinity Seven has a protagonist who isn't a complete retard. He isn't too indecisive either.. yet. RosaVam, however, I must admit, Tsukune has gone through a huge amount of character development. The main character in this one is a Magic King candidate and his main magic power is a hilarious one that you'll have to find out for yourself! All in all, this is a really good manga and I give it 10/10.

A break from the norm, familiar nonetheless...

Yes, it's an ecchi harem manga. But, as you've read, the main character has a decisive nature, is unafraid to jump into things, and does so without inspirational speeches to lead the way.

There's a refreshing sense of humor to this work. The character is unashamedly cocky and ecchi in his conversation and attitudes towards the girls and the ecchi situations he faces.

Not a herbivore, nose bleeder or shrinking violet.

...And, I think, a bit more like how a 17 year old surrounded by a hot harem might be...well...maybe.

Still, it's a nice break from the trip/fall/strip/grope girl/get slapped/spiral away in a rush of projectile arterial nose vomit.

The story's taking a slow build approach that I'm fine with. I don't find it as confusing as others. I also think that (of course) there's more to come.

It's called Trinity 7 for the 7 most powerful girls of a magical academy. It seems to be taking the time to intro the girls without the use of flashbacks, forgotten memories (you once picked up a notebook I dropped and then moved away--I've been saving myself for you ever since!) (When we were 3 years old, I gave you my first kiss--Please remember me!)

It moves at a relaxed pace with good humor to carry you along.
