WTF happened

The story had a lot of potential until after his family was m_____d and r___d. This would then lead to a transition into his journey fueled by rage and revenge... sounds promising enough. Except it begins to assume an almost comedic tone with the fucking female servant who results to absolutely nothing? As if the absolutely boring and ridiculous events were not enough, the author then proceeded to make him dress up as a female, progressing into the most convoluted occurrences which magically leads him to the antagonist. No thanks, I can't read this. It was so good before as well and the female servant seemed to have a complete 180 in character as well? (compared to the earlier chapters)

If I'm missing something and that is the reason I find chapters 20 up to 23 an appalling mess, please inform me.

Just great

Best manga/manhwa I've read this year, deep and twisted yet straightforward and easy to read, good pace, great chars and the story was awesome, I didn't foresee the ending and I won't brag but I almost always what happens is among the considered possibilities, not reading the reviews here helped, some posts have heavy spoilers.
There are so many crappy manga/manhwa out there that make it big yet are crap and then there are great ones like this one that you are lucky if you find them.
Strongly recommended for those looking for action with a good story-line and some depth for a change.

An all-time favourite

Threads of Time is one of those stories where you have to read the whole thing (and maybe do a re-read) to really appreciate how good it is. And it is REALLY good. It starts out pretty slow, following a few completely different storylines, so if you're hoping for a payoff in the first few volumes, you're going to be pretty disappointed.

Over time, though, all the different threads slowly coalesce into this fantastic tapestry of a story. Hitting The Twist, for me, was really more about a sudden realization that "OH MY GOD THIS ALL MAKES SENSE NOW", and that awesome moment when all the pieces in your head fall into place and you realize that the author has been planning this all along, every calculated little flashback from beginning to end.

And then I went back and read it again, and caught all the little clever bits of foreshadowing that I didn't catch the first time, and really enjoyed myself.

The one really unfortunate thing about this series is the lack of skill portraying faces, especially in the first few volumes. Most of the women kind of look the same, and those who are supposed to look similar... don't. I also feel like a lot of the early battle scenes were a tad disjointed. The art is so good in general that I feel somehow disappointed when it's not perfect. xD

But yeah, fantastic story! However, probably only for certain people.

idiot mc...

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Everything started after mc killed his own soldiers who were there to protect his family but this stupid brat lusting for that women who was enemy instead protected her by killing his own people..
Not once but twice that enemy woman (female mc) was saved by that idiotic mc which lead to the rape of MC's sister and killed .....all because female mc was spy and gathered info..about MC's household...
How insolent idiot can he be??
1.the enemy force is very very powerful.
2.author gave too too much screen time for the antagonist.((((around 60% ....I think its around 70-75%...the author is out of his mind.)).... And how cruel he is ..he even raped a coma girl......and told his soldier to rape that coma girl...nevertheless in front of her father......cruel!!
3.female lead is also not likeable ......because of her many people died......she thinks she is strong and smart lol....no commonsence ...its war cmon man...what's up with her?
4.our mail lead is wussy with barely 30% screen time.....and he actually is non existence in war till 20 chapters ..u can guess drawbacks in 46 chapter manga.....
5 ..will u like to read romance of such evil rapist people...... ??? ?
6.enemy soldiers are smart, with strategy and quickly take decision...whereas other side are clueless....and is very much decided who will lose the war...
7.author has tried very hard for his reader to like the antagonist...... What the hell ??? ???
First he makes him very cruel ...then in later chapters ...he protrayed him as sympathetic character...are u kidding?? ..
We want to read the drawback and development of weak male lead in war not the development and cruelty of antagonist.....
U can understand why this manga is not well know///

The plot was really, really good, and the twist was amazing, but it was hampered by the execution. The battle scenes were so boring that there were multiple times when I just wanted to throw my computer across the room. Actually, a lot of the story was boring. That may just be me, because a lot of other people seem to love this manhwa. The whole "sister magically brings him back to the past" thing was a bit awkward, but it worked so whatever.

One thing I liked was the characterization. I hated Sali Tayi (um, psychotic rapist alert), but I did enjoy his love (which reeked more of psychological dependence, but w/e) for you-know-who. Moon-Bin was a kid at first, but he eventually grew mature. The ending was great. It showed how MB had grown, and how he reacted to things he had simply angsted about in earlier chapters.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I didn't like the sudden romance with glasses girl at the end of the story. It's true she's a reincarnation of Atan Hadas, but she's still in essence a different person, the way Moon-Bin isn't truly Sali Tayi, even at the beginning of the story.

Great twist

BAAAAAM!!!

Well, that was the twist.

The manhwa is a decent read and recommended for people who enjoy stories about the sentiments of one's life. And despite the 'karma' thing and time travel, the manhwa was realistic. Though I think the development of romance was a bit slow at the start and sudden at near end (only from my POV maybe because I read shoujo), the end emphasized the depth of Sali's love and became one of the factors that marked in me.

As for the ending, unlike the others, I was not disappointed. Though I'd say that it was kind of expected. But I think it was the appropriate ending. Well, that was just the last two chapters. But the CLIMAX was really great. The TWIST blew my mind. I never expected it.

Last but not the least, the characters were great. Especially the main antagonist, Sali. He was an antagonist you'll probably hate but love and pity at the same time.

Likable series!

Pros: A good, flowy read. A nice mix of everything, including action, drama, darkness, great art, humour, with original and realistic aspects in the storyline (Particularly with the true unglamourous side of war, from the violence and social status, to the sad fate and treatment of women who are the spoils of those wars. Yet while serious and realistic, it isn't overdone where it gets painfully gloomy) The manga also gets you thinking about life in general, as it can be quite thought provoking. If you enjoy snippets of Korean History, you will get that too.

And, for those who fancy it; there is a subtle romance story. And an unconventional one too, as it is not the usual "Boy meets girl, boy is strong, girl is dainty, boy saves girl, gush gush love" yada yada. Both characters are quite strong in their own right, and play their roles and personal goals. Overall felt like a partnership in many areas.

Cons: Sometimes battle scenes can be a bit too prolonged. Or, at least, might just cover too much space in pig pictures covering whole pages. At least a couple of volumes can be read within minutes because, well, there is just displays of fighting scenes and very minimal dialogue. I buy a book, an then I am done in a snap because of that.

Some parts will also feel a little bit too random/rushed, or have instances where the characters will be developed and announced as one thing, but then have a turn of being a bit OOC later on.

A con or a pro, it will depend on you: You will either think the ending a true plottwist, incredibly deep and unique, with a dash of "OMG Mindf**k".

Or, you will be disapointed in the ending. Either finding it a bit anti-climactic, or react with a solid facepalm.

I myself have mixed feelings about the ending. I was legitimately surprised, but at the same time...I would have definitely prefered another alternative, between the final meeting between the dubbed antagonist and the protaganist. I also wanted something more.

Anyhow -> Altogether, I do highly recommend this series. It's a quality Manhwah.

Good Manwha, Bad Ending

This manwha is great. An interesting, gritty story, action done well, and a bit of interesting romance. The art is good, the characters are done realistically, and they are easy to empathize with. I loved it.

The one thing this story had that I really didn't like was the end. I found it unsatisfying and almost painful. I'm not going to spoil anything, so read it yourself. It is worth it, despite the end.
