A confusing world and mediocre if standard and predictable plot

read till chapter 40s and read the last 2 chapters.

How this is a work by the same author as that for Tensei Shitara dai Nana Ouji dattanode, Kimamani Majutsu o Kiwamemasu is one i find really hard to believe. People really do improve with experience i guess is all i can say.

One of the things about this series which i don't find people talking about much is how absolutely random the world is. It literally plays like a game with monsters dropping their 'cards' which are one time use only but they can also drop equipment and monsters can fkin respawn too so how does clearing an area work? and how there's levels but also apparently skill matters and levels only when they get brought up etc etc frankly im not interested enough to delve deeper into it but this is one messy as hell world.

I Liked It, But...

I like the art and character designs a lot. The characterization is a bit inconsistent but not terrible, and the world building is decent though not focused on very much.

The real issue is the dialogue: what the characters say can be so dumb at times, even if it doesn't really affect the bigger picture or the plot very much.

The ending feels a bit rushed, and seems to be baiting a sequel where the focus is on love instead of becoming strong. This would be cool if it happens, but I don't think that sequel work (done in another genre) will happen.

As a result, it would have been less frustrating—if the author really couldn't decide on a single character, which they should have done—to have a partial or true harem ending where Zeff gets either Milly and Claude (the two are so close I can't imagine them not sharing Zeff) or all 4 girls.

It was ok but then...

What was shaping up to be an interesting series like a 7/10 territory ended up with a 5/10 due to an axed ending. I'll say at least it isn't a total waste of time read but the rushed ending will make you wish they had at least one more volume to tie it up neatly.

A pretty good read. The

open ended harem ending
was okay, but the grown up version of the fmcs were pretty lit. What I want to know is if the manga ending was the same with the light novel and web novel endings? Anyone who knows just send me a PM. TIA

Totally generic 95% of the time, but that last 5% O_O

It is a very generic time travel redo type of fantasy with magic and swords.

Yes, MC is an old man who gets a harem, which he ignores partially from being dense. Yes, his harem members fawn over him quite easily. They do so mostly because they're really pure at heart. It's not like they are the stupid, annoying type. I don't mind the harem. They're somewhat charming and refreshing because their goals and hearts are so simple and pure. Leveling. Becoming the strongest. Surpassing oneself. Whatever.

This manga really doesn't have anything particularly outstanding going for it ... but that is also part of the charm. It's actually strange and intriguing because the world they live in is like a RPG game that is *too* simple. This simplicity is juxtaposed with a hardcore plot, which is causing some dissonance. The whole manga I've had this feeling that the people are strange in a way that I can't quite explain. The world they live in is strange in a way that hasn't really been revealed yet. I feel like something is very wrong with the whole world and I'm not sure where the author is going to take it, that uncertainty is delectable. The author actually lets sh*t hit the fan and is willing to do things to their story that other authors wouldn't dare. Entice me more. That is the 5% that I can't stop reading.

There is something slightly off with this manga and I don't know if it's intentional or not. I really hope it is intentional. The author dropped a few parts in the story that could really lead down a crazy rabbit hole if they wanted. Otherwise, the story is not really good, but I can hope for more in my imagination, right?

Mediocre

Qutie mediocre in pretty much all aspects. The story is quite generic and above all it's not presented in an interesting way, he's traveled to the past yet the author doesn't make much use of the setting at all except for a new skill here and there. MC is not bad but not particularly good either and he's yet another idiot with a harem that does nothing, and the excuse that it's because he's an old guy is ridiculous, he has a young body with a young body needs, needless to say that old people can be quite lecherous too. The secondary characters are really secondary, they play little part other than clinging to the MC. Likewise, dialogues are quite basic, there is no deep phrase in the 33 chapters so far and the MC commits discursive mistakes that any normal adult wouldn't, let alone an experienced old man. As for the art and drawing, it's actually good or at least not bad, so no complains there.
Overall, a barely decent addition to an already affluent genre.

The art is alright but it feels very rushed since it skips over and changes a lot from the LN. Three chapters in this manga and it is already at the novel's 13th chapter. This is a shame since the skipped portions were pretty good. The MC is more or less the same but the heroine is portrayed as dumber and needier than the original.
