I love going back to this manga and re-reading it every few years. It's such a cute comedic shoujo manga with a strong willed female lead. Such a classic shoujo in my opinion of the 2000's! The author and their team is such a powerhouse writing and direction wise. The art isn't out of this world but it's very unique and lovely.

It was pretty funny, I loved the facial expressions of the main character. I thought that the drama was pretty low key compared to some other shoujo. Toward the end it got kind of silly but overall I really liked reading this and think it's well above other shoujo that I have read.

I will say though, I never liked the sister. She definitely did not deserve the boyfriend that she got.

Heart-warming

Although the plot was not something exceptional, I really enjoyed it. Everything was so natural and light, which warmed my heart so much ^^.

However, sometimes, Haruna really annoys me, but it ends up not really bad though. And btw, I like Yoh so much ^^

drift off from the initial story

It's about a girl who can't doll up herself, but in the end it's just an ordinary romantic story between high-schoolers, and the main character didn't improve her fashion sense AT ALL.

but that's only the minus, this manga has a lot of the pluses. I love Yoh, he's different from any guy character from other similar genre manga.

Wth. This series is awesome and even got a live action movie for it. Maybe in the future we'll see an anime. My love story is cute and awesome too. I don't see why ppl hate this but than again everybody wants to complain about something. Story is kind of predictable but when i read tis i wasn't predicting anything and laugh and enjoy every minute of it. i love vol 1-7 and than 8-10 was ok. 11-15 was a real treat and actually it didn't take 15 vols to finish it because it truly ended at 13. and not even that long considering a lot of other series last much longer then this. Boys over flowers, fruits basket, kimi ni todoke, wallflower, vampire knights, ouran high school, skip beat, etc. vol 14-15 only became published due to the live action flim but honestly couldn't wait to read more since this was a cute story. the only downside to this was not seeing them get married or have children. Seeing them have a issue with them making love in vol 14 was kind of annoying especially with it being a big deal after trying it 3 times already. but oh well. i love it till the end.

Cheesy Title, Hilarious Story

I had my doubts about where this was headed from the first volume and the title, but once you get to volume two the series subverts expectations and gets really funny. Not every arc is fantastic, but most of the time it's throughly entertaining. Worth a read if you like comedy.

Mein Gott. . . this series was terrible. At first, I thought the initial premise was unique, but upon reflecting on it, I realized how common it really was. Girl (who lacks/fails pathetically at something) asks Guy to help her/teach her => they become a couple.

Yeah, not original.

Furthermore, Haruna was unbelievably dense. She gets worse with each chapter too. I don't understand what it was about her that charmed Yoh to the point of falling for her. (I also don't know how he was able to handle her stupidity).

The thing that probably irked me the most was the ending. At the end, Yoh and Haruna have been together for what, 2 or 3 years? Something like that. YOU WOULD THINK her fashion sense would have improved to some degree within that time. At least, she would have some sense of what's appropriate to wear according to the situation and setting. But, alas, that's not the case. She actually reverts back the fashion terrorist she debuted as in the early chapters. . . REALLY? I don't have a fashionable bone in my body but even I can scrape myself together and emulate an outfit I like off the web or throw on some jeans and a blouse. IT IS NOT THAT HARD TO DO. Haruna's bad fashion sense, naivety, idiocy, and inability to adapt is exaggerated to the point of being unrealistic.

And Yoh. . . I thought he was ok at first - just your typical popular, aloof, good looking dude. But he also had too many cliches in his character and backstory to keep me interested for very long. In terms of personality, I can't see how someone Yoh could have become an item with a girl like Haruna, much less find it in himself to like her in the first place. Really, was I the only one who was slightly surprised he fell for her so quickly?

Seriously. . . I don't know how I finished this ;_;

Does it have to last fifteen volumes?

No, it doesn't. This series starts with a bang as the setting, the situation, and the characters are somewhat unique. It is predictable though as the moment he says "don't fall in love with me", most of us must have known that they are going to be in love anyway. Still, the fun of reading is to find out how we are going to reach that ending, so it is okay.

I think the mangaka handles the plot well until Yoh x Haruna and Yoh'sis x Fumi pairings first get together. Yeah, the cliche is there, but the dramatic factor keeps the story somewhat captivating. Then it just goes down hill from there. I noticed the remarkable length of this manga before starting it so eventhough I thought the mangaka should have ended it after vol 3., I kept on reading and hoped to be pleasantly surprised. However, I started skimming after volume 4, and gave up soon after. Sigh.

The whole shenanigan with Yoh's sister toward the end was ridiculous, and it seems as if the mangaka was desperate to come up with some arcs to squeeze all the juice out of the manga (not that it wasn't really dried already). It takes only a few volumes for the main couple to get together; the rest (majority of the manga) is about their dating life, which, unfortunately, was portrayed really dull and shallow.

It is quite hard to keep a long shoujo series interesting. Parfait Tic does a better job than this manga in keeping the drama going on. But that doesn't make the reading any less frustrating. So, sometimes, less is definitely more

Interesting premise, then drags on until the end

Pretty standard fare for shoujo, I guess. Started off well enough, but then just started dragging on when the author kept introducing insignificant side characters to ~add spice~ to the main characters' love life. The whole plot can pretty much be summarized with "Girl wants boyfriend, asks hot guy to coach her about what guys want. They fall in love, their love is ~tested~ with various minor misunderstandings again and again--was that brother-sister duo thing towards the end necessary--and it ends on a happy note. Oh and so you can care for them somewhat, have one chapter or two devoted to a side character's entire back story--we good? Good. Now back to the misunderstandings. The end." There were a few moments here and there that made me go "cuuute" but overall there wasn't anything really memorable about it.
