Description

When Haruna Nagashima was in junior high her life consisted of playing softball and reading comics. But now that she's going to high school, Haruna decides to put all of her energy towards getting a boyfriend and having the high school romance of a lifetime. To help in her quest, she enlists cute upperclassman Yoh Komiyama to coach her as she eschews her tomboy tendencies and turns herself into the kind of girl who can catch a guy. I actually really liked this manga... that is, until it ended... I felt like at the end the main character, Haruna, kinda reverted back to how she was in the beginning even though half of the series was supposed to be about her finding herself. Not to mention sometimes I felt as though they over exaggerated Haruna's personality a little. And by a little I mean a lot. Although, for the most part the series is pretty good, the ending was more than enough for me to lose interest...

I admit, I was dissuaded by comments of this story being boring... but it's not! The first part tells of the girl's problems, then the second part (the one that's supposed to be boring) tells of the guy's perspective of things and why Yoh acts the way he does towards Haruna. And the last part shows how love can grow even in a relationship wherein both the guy and the girl have socializing issues.

This story proves that opposites do attract, and more importantly, they stick!

End of Series

I liked this manga because it had a very nice story. The characters were realistic, not artificial like in some other shoujo manga. The series is focused on romance, but a sweet innocent way. The main character isn't desperate for the attention of one guy who hates/ignores her for the whole series until the magical ending.

I recommend this series for those who think they have lost hope in shoujo (because after you read lots of them you realize that most of them are similar and revolve around one girl chasing said guy). This is a nice light read with some very funny parts (although Haruna does get paranoid at times, lol).

The artwork was original, which is also good. It could have been better, but the story makes up for it. The ending was also good. Although I will say that Asami gets really annoying at some parts.

Recommended.

Farewell Haruna and Yoh!!!

Awww... I've just finished reading, so I'm leaving this "Farewell Comment".

I read this manga for a year and I've collected some pretty memories while following it up. I have this gloomy feeling when something reaches it's ends... because, since it's over, I won't see Yoh and Haruna's faces again, nor their friends as well, who did a great job keeping them together till the end. But I'm glad I could follow it till the end... and the mangaka didn't let me down.

I've ended up reading the whole series again to read the last few scanlated chapters. I feel as if I've passed through all those situations with Haruna and Yoh. I loved the last speech, when she remembered all the best arcs of the series, I've recalled some great parts of it. The light jokes and even the heavy feelings that made me fall in love with this couple. Haruna's always-cheerful personality and the the so-grounded-and-cool Yoh.

I wish I could thank the mangaka properly for providing such an enjoyable... no, Memorable series. I like it from the beginning till the end. There's no part I would cut or change, because when we like someone or something, we have to cherish in in it's own plenitude.

I'll buy the series as soon as it's available in my country... because it's worth the prize... and also to "thank the mangaka" properly! lol

And with that, there's one more thing I want to say to the young and naive Haruna:
"Yeah... Love come to those who believe it... and that's the way it is."

This is one of my favorite series ever. Great story, even with the slow parts. Realistic with a real heroine. I recommend this manga for everyone.

I think one of the best things about this manga would Yoh, since he is just an AWESOME main lead. Also the relationship between Haruna and Yoh was very cute and heartwarming. Haruna's personality was a change from typical shoujo characters, and I absolutely love her optimism. I think the way she actually cares for Yoh and doesn't cry all the time is great. It's also not just Haruna being the one who does all the work, Yoh is always there for her as well. To keep it short, read this manga NOW!

The point is that the series isn't dramatic or its characters have terrible pasts makes me like it so much. It just a story about a particular couple and things that can happen to anyone of us. The heroic Haruna isn't beautiful at all while Yoh, even he looks and acts cool, he is so inexperience and such a shy boy. I love it because it's "original".

It's a guilty pleasure to read because it's oh so cliche'd, but satisfying nonetheless. Really though.

There's nothing dreadfully deep or meaningful about this manga, it's just a really great girly romance that throws in just enough cliche to make sure your comfortable and just enough twist to keep you coming back.

This story is so superly cute! It amazed me of how much the artwork improved during the 9 volumes that I read.. Seriously, if yuu love shoujo manga, you'll definitely love this one too!

This is one hell of manga that makes me want to go back to high school and make my debut and wishfully thinking that I have a sempai like Yoh. This is really funny and very touching and each moment deserves an "awww."
