Great movie/story revived

I remeber going to see the movie in the theaters as a kid. The Labyrinth became one of my favorite movies of all time...I even own the dvd now. This continuation of the story has captivated my interest so far however, I really want to see more Jareth and Sara action. But from the ending in the second vol. it looks like I wont be disappointed.

Bait and switch

I read the first volume. The cover is beautiful, but tokyo pulled a bait and switch because the artist of the comic is a different one and the style isn't very appealing to me because it's cartoony. The story is not bad, but it lacked depth to me, so many parts left me feeling bored and unsatisfied.

Um...I thought this was a shoujo...

I liked Labyrinth, but what I really loved was Jareth; the sultry, sexy Goblin King in scandalously tight pants. This manga is crude, and seems to have a fixation on bodily waste and other forms of 10 year old boy humour. Where's the shoujo romance? The once spunky and gorgeous Sarah has been reduced to the type who probably has 3 cats and never goes on dates. I don't think it's as horrible as a 4, but it certainly isn't placing high on my list.

On a positive note, the art was very well done, 8.5/10! Not as good as I was lead to believe by the cover, but good. Also, the weaving of the plots is enough to make the fans go "I remember that!" but without going into heavy cliches. The movie was pretty cliched at some points, so the manga has not topped it really. I like Moppet, and hope to see even more of her biggrin And Jareth got to reflect on Sarah, which was nice.

Overall consensus: Not great, but I guess it could be worse.
*Side note: I am simply in love with the cover! The eyes are so intense biggrin

Why is this here???

I don't understand why this is on manga updates. It's an english comic, by an english author, drawn by an english artist, with an english story in the usual "american" comic style (and not a very good one at that). On top of all that, it's ruining Henson's classic. I find it ridiculous that MangaUpdates would carry this, just because the cover was done by a japanese artist. Please someone take this off so it wont get people confused and start ordering it online as a "manga". P.S. the art looks nothing like the cover (just check online).

I read through must of the "Return" but it just does not have much of the appeal or feel I was looking for. Honestly I'm a little disappointed. I expected the art to be better and the story line to be less cluttered.

The cover art is so pretty, but that's not the art used in the manga. The art that is used is inconsistent. The goblins are unnecessarily gross, they were not like that in the original movie. May favourite character has always been Jareth, but I don't think the writer did his character justice. The ending is good though. And not just because it ends. The end was actually written well enough.

It was okay, but not amazing.

I don't know why people are giving harsh comments about it, I found myself reading it all the way to the most recent chapter. I had anticipation to see what was on the next page, and that's rare for myself.
I can't say this COMIC -being english and not made in japan sort of thing- was amazing, but it wasn't that bad.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
was kinda iffy how Toby wasn't entirely shocked that his last visit was as a baby, and that his sudden succession to the throne (which I honestly found really silly in this story) wasn't considered a huge deal to him. He's like, "oh, okay -sigh- I'll do my best" Positive attitude but...doesn't fit.
I like how they add a few things from the movie to this, but I like how they don't kinda overdo that either. Also, the random goblin characters in this story kinda make this a bit confusing as to whether this is made for children or for teens; the immaturity and childlike style of the goblins is similar to the movie, but eh...not really my style.

I think what's keeping me reading is seeing what happens with Jareth and Sarah (I'm a romance freak >_<) But honestly I didn't want them to be having anything "special" in the movie, cause that just didn't fit really, him being oldy moldy -hot but old-, and the movie having a lesson: don't take anything for granted.
The movie isn't about romance or w/e, just that particular lesson in crazy format.
This fanfiction is tolerable, but it's not really a sequel to me, it's just someones point of view on how THEY want the sequel to be.

I picked this up because of the cover art... man was it disappointing when I flipped to the first page and then back to the cover... and notice in small print that the cover art was done by someone else...

Art was horrible. Story was ok but boring.

Would I recommend this? No. it was a waste of my time.

I saw the movie "The Labyrinth"and I love it so when I heard the movie was going to be continue in a manga I was so happy. I look forward for the release but I must say I am greatly disappointed with the manga's art. The story is a bit confusing but I decided to read it thought and comment on it when I finish reading it. So far it's just confusing.
