The author throws dialogue, character motivations, worldbuilding, and memes that would normally be found in a Chinese xianxia or xuanhuan into a Western fantasy setting, creating quite a(n) (amusing) disconnect. I am unable to tell whether it is an intentional attempt at satirical humor, or the author is so stuck in their Chinese story-writing ways that they simply do not know better. Perhaps further reading may reveal more...
