It's a good collection, as it showcases both folkish tales (some more ligh-hearted, some less so) and also darker material in a relatively more modern setting. Chapter #4 is and excellent example of the latter kind: a bit of mystery, revenge&racism, murder and just a dash of romance, with some of the best and most detailed art Sumeragi-sensei has ever produced. I wish she could get some more love at least scans-wise.
It's worth a 10 for the art alone, both in skill and originality : definitely not the usual manga style(s), but closer to an illustrated book and -to a western eye at least -. to the great tradition of XIX century books English artists and illustrators.
The stories themselves may or may not be your cup of tea (I'm a sucker for well done, mature period/folk pieces personally), but I'd suggest to give them a chance. If you're a not a fan of folk tales, go straight to story #4 .
Many thanks to ETC for keeping on with this project ^_^.
