Everything the description of this manga gives on manga reading sites is wrong, where it describes this manga as a “story between a ‘friendly’ cool school president and his popular vice president”. I’m not a major fan of the smut genre as it is, but there are exceptions to this genre that make some the work readable. This is not one of those works.
I guess that some people enjoy hearing a main male protagonist basically treat the female main like dirt, but I can say in personal bias I did not.
And what’s more, just given the mess this manga’s plot is, I doubt even fans of that genre would even like it.
Where to even begin. The art style is pretty standard. It’s not amazing but it’s nothing I would put down because the art is so bad or anything like that. In fact I’d go as far to say that the art style is the only redeemable part of this work. It’s all just a daek spiral here on after...
So when I started this manga, it was a pretty fast paced one which instantly set off my bad manga sensors. When you have very little time to truly understand the characters and the plot, we know little to nothing about the school president,
other than the mc thinks his pleasant facade is cool and that in reality he is a d*ck
and we know even less about our female lead, who is so generic is made my eyes roll to the back of my head upon reading more of the dialogue. But you know what, I said screw it, some of the best manga’s I have read have had a ridiculously fast pacing in the first chapter or so, since alot of them are intended as one shots first, maybe this manga could redeem it’s pacing later on.
And then I read the rest of chapter one.
Okay so the idea of the student pres and student rep marrying for the reasons they gave were completely ridiculous. You could hear the tiny voice in the back of you head nonchalantly say “well that’s convenient”. It was such a ridiculous method in order to get these characters to share a room basically, and it was extremeley stiff.
There was no natural flow to it, it just kind of happened and you just had to accept it. You’d think the parents would be given more time to discuss it with their daughter, not just conveniently just gleefully going with it. The opening was extremely shallow and seemed just a empty brief to instantly cut to some fast paced smut that ooo boy, when I get to the rants on that.
You’ll notice I toss the word conveneinet alot in this review. Because conveneient is the best way to describe most of the plot points in this manga. Convenient set up, convenient plot points, conveneint characterisations. Everything was at the convenience of having to some low grade smut in here.
As I said, I am not a big fan of the smut genre, especially because it seems manga’s like this are more frequent in it. But there were some pretty quality one I read and hell alot of the good smut is found outside the shoujo genre. The smut in this is much less smut, more than it is ecchi.
From what I have read so far, they haven’t got past deep kissing and groping and from what I hear about it, that is pretty much the gist of it.
I don’t think there is any problems with being into smut or more raunchy manga, but seriously if you want to read smut, look up what smut manga’s would ne decent... and not contain such aggravating characters.
We now move on to the characters... ooo boy... so as I said, I get that there are people who like their sadist characters... hell even to a degree I like my sadist male leads.
But here’s the thing, there is a fine line between sadist and a full on d*ck with a rapist agenda. I don’t care what kind of crap the manga threw our way “Oh it is because he wants an heir” this was awful to read. The way he talks to her and then proceeds to not seem to make up for it in any way, put’s him way over the edge of sadist. Mix that with terrible character development, you don’t have a well constructed sadist character, no you just replace the s with an r, and you have an accurate representation of a borderline rapist. And the female just accepts it all. There is no reason and I mean NO reason for her to accept the crap he gives her. Even sugar coated words he gives in his innocent facade, aren’t enough to overule the verbal and psychological abuse he gives her behind closed doors.
This is not a healthy relationship. It’s not even a good sadist, machoist relationship. It’s a toxic one, what you are reading is some douchbag manipulate the mindset of the female protagonist, making her feel so low that she when he hits her with the innocent act a good healthy dose of stockholm syndrome comes into play.
Even the dad is in on it, and the fact he knows his sons aggenda and some of the reasoning he had for choosing the female lead is so fcked up. In fact it’s the best way to describe this manga fcked up. It doesn’t leave you feeling good inside once you have finished reading it. The male leads harshness towards her makes it so you can’t even get into the smut, if you can even call it that.
No matter how infuriating the female lead is, how stupid she is for just allowing the crap to happen to her when most girls would have been out of that dodgy relationship the moment when their saying “no” was ignored, I still wouldn’t wish the awful relationship upon anyone
This is honnestly a manga which I think even fans of sadist smut would not enjoy. Do yourself the favour, pick up a smut that is good. One that actually has the raunch you want in it, but also one that does not make it’s main characters utterly detestable. I’d even dar say if you are looking for smut, check out other sections, such as josei, seinen, yuri and yaoi, which more often pr. ot have way better smut manga.
