Stressful
by Lokin

Reading this was more stressful than fun. (stopped at chapter 20)

I feel like I don't know what the author wants to do with this series. I'm pretty familiar with her other works and enjoyed them thoroughly. And I do read a fair amount of romance ("juvenile" shoujo romance, love triangles, seinen romance, shounen romance, romance with a "harem cast", josei romance, even pornwha "romance"---PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING YOU NAME IT)... BUT THIS SERIES FEELS WEIRD and has me on edge constantly. Like I feel like it's an experimentation to try to go for a "light-hearted" series with aoharu theme---or because I'm so used to the author's other works that I'm susceptible to all kinds of subtle hints that paralyzes me from enjoying it casually. Like there's some weird kind of impeding doom feel while reading it. Like, it feels like it is trying to masquerade itself to be as light like the usual juvenile romance, but there's something GRATING about it where it impedes me from getting the usual "comfy fluffy" vibes. Personally, I couldn't get pass chapter 20 for this because it became a mental torture having to force myself through this.

I remember reading this a long time ago (almost a decade ago); so my review is based off that impression (so I can only remember the "strongest impression" ). All my memories and impressions was that I enjoyed it when the girl "Ebino" was on the scene and the main leads are not on the scene. It felt suffocating and irritating, probably because of the "lying" premise of the main leads. I'm not exactly sure why it was that way, I'll probably write a new review once I will attempt for a re-read in the future. I generally enjoy love comedies, but couldn't muster a single moment of this series where it has a memorable "funny" moment to me.

In terms of personal enjoyment ranking this series vs the author's works, it goes like this: Himegoto - Juukyuusai no Seifuku > Shounen no Abyss > This thing. I honestly don't know what the author was trying to aim with this series. It doesn't feel fluffy to me. The weird supernatural element feels forcefully thrusted in... maybe it is to make it "unique" but just came off as off-putting and slightly "delusional" hence triggering to me. I'll probably try to regain the mental strength to tackle this once I'm done with Boy's Abyss (while that one is unhinged, it's somewhat LESS STRESSFUL than this one because it doesn't try to hide what it is going for).

Hell, speaking of Romance, I think that I prefer reading some romance from Pocket Monster Special "romance" if I wanted some fluff rather than this. I need to cleanse my palate just having to recover the painful memories of recalling tangents related to this series.

Best Manga Ever Read

This manga is something that I’m really passionate about, I remember seeing the description and thinking hey this sounds like The world god only knows. I was hooked from that point, the premise is super strong though sometimes I wish they would have leaned on it a bit more, though that's just because the side stories we're really well written. Where I may have previously been only interested in the premise I soon became obsessed with seeing how the characters would progress, it’s strange how sometimes just one page of this manga can make me jump from my chair and just start dancing from excitement of what's to come (not even a joke I really did dance from happiness) though there are also moments where I just feel broken from what they may be hinting at. The story takes some wild turns at times throwing the reader into will they won't they moments and making us sit on the edge of our seat as we watch for the solutions. The characters really come to life over the time we spend with them and you become attached to them in a way that hurts to say goodbye. The art shows that the artist really put their effort and love into the manga and it pays off brilliantly. I'm so happy I found this manga here and that it became an obsession that I will keep with me from now on. It’s amazing how far a story develops within us, whether we read or watch something over years or days it still feels like we've been invested for ages because you become apart of the story, observing the character's personality and following their flow of time. Thinking from where it all started knowing that one baseball would change not only the characters lives but mine, this manga is incredibly special and deserves your attention. I rarely see anything produce a response in me that this manga has, I’m incredibly taken by every word and picture. Please give it your attention.

Really Good Manga
by Fierytia

This manga was really good , most of story's plot was enclosed , the ending was satisfying (but it depended on who you were vouching for) , the plot progression was ok , the middle part was like 65% filler , and the "near the end" part of the story had quite the boost in pacing . Not really a lot of plotholes(for me altleast) unless you were really contemplating about the secondary characters. The comedy was good too , the secondary character couples were very much references to other romance mangas that I've read.
Just so you know
The author really likes cuck blocking and cliff hangers ( both near the end of the middle part of the manga) , the author is also very predictable sometimes in the story.

I want to discuss what's your thoughts on what first love zombies truly are and the fate of the 3 love interests.

The basics we know of love zombies are that they're born when you meet your first love and disappear when it's realized. They're kind of like imaginary friends but you can't see them they mirror the hosts emotions and have ability to effect emotions and have physical contact. For whatever reason only female first love zombies are born and eve is one of the 2 that appear to have actual free will if this is the case isn't clear.

As for the fate of who tarou ends up with but I hope for a happy ending for all of them. I hope in the end zombie eve doesn't disappear it would feel like a character death if it happened also of she's the final girl also would be depressing unless she becomes like Pinocchio and turns into a real girl I don't see a future (I recommend to read hatsukoi zombie raw manga here) in this relationship. As for tea eve I don't care much for her character but do sympathize with her it seems the series is building up to her being the final girl since the majority of the series focuses on her and tarous relationship. As for ebino I feel bad for one I prefer her but her relationship with tarou is treated very minorly and she doesn't have any other suitable love interest other than that guy that pervs all over her.

Looking over the latest rawchapters it seems tarou told ebino of love zombies and I think he decided to pick zombie eve. I think he also told the real eve he's picking her. If we go back I think tarous real love has been zombie eve I think he states he was able to see her before eve left and I think the reason tarou didn't kiss the real eve because he knew she would disappear. Who knows maybe in the end tarous love for her maybe make her real. If it does work out that way kind of feel bad for real eve and ebino only be fair if they both get their own tarou love zombies.

Anti-Keima

Have you read The World God Only Knows?
Love that work.

Well this is like an anti-TWGOK, with an anti-Keima; While Keima gets all the girls for himself (and basically dumps them with memory-erasing magic), Tarou ships the girls with OTHER guys (usually for his own peace of mind) and they live happily ever after, guilt-free.
A formula which I actually prefer a LOT more since now everybody's happy! yay~ smile
But its not as repetitive as it sounds though as the author manages to make the flow unpredictable and interesting.
oh btw protag also has his own love interests (don't worry hehe)

A positive, wholesome and cute romantic comedy about first loves with a very unique mechanic concept.

Highly recommended.
Shounen Sunday has the best romcoms smile

Potential

The first few chapters of this manga seemed to imply yet another brainless (but enjoyable!) and raunchy story that fell in line with a few too many cliches. However, there may be something worth discussion in this story-- though it may be too soon to tell. An interesting premise, but its gratuitous use of tropes requires its execution to be meticulously handled.

TL;DR - Interesting premise. Trope-filled like standard fluffy manga with some discussion of serious issues; overall quality will depend on its development.

the suitable title for this would be un-living first love. because if it is 'zombie', my impression was, something like, dead people which alive.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
that being is not dead, but not alive too

so i would call it 'un-living' (i think the right one should be 'non-living', but it would be weird if it is 'non-living first love'). so the last choice the mangaka have that still right but not accurate would be 'zombie'.
sorry to made you read this.. XD

It has quite an interesting premise but, after reading the chapters up to this date, it feels to me that this manga is going nowhere. Either with romance or proper character development, and I can't see where this is gonna end up, the only funny thing about this manga are the "zombie" girls xD... and that is kind of lame, since they're imaginary... and not meant to be MCs... I hope the story improves in the following chapters or I'll probably drop it soon out of boredom.
