It's definitely above average and generally really quite good. It does, however, have some issues. The MC was raised (during the blank period when he was missing) from incredibly skilled but still mediocre, to OP AF. Power-wise, he got a huge jump in pretty much all aspects, which is nice because he was already a badass assassin. Character wise he's pretty good (when the author isn't writing him to be dumb, which does happen occasionally). In fact, I'd go so far as to say that I really like him, and he does very little wrong, and any time something drags or is off in the plot, it's because the author is breaking character to do so. I.e., he's written well, until he's suddenly not... surprise!
I want to take a moment to talk about the Female Lead though. She's an utter riot, and I adore her face, her character, and, well, literally everything about her. Have you ever read "World's Greatest Estate Developer"? You know the Lloyd faces? Well she's almost on that level. She's a super strong and extremely well developed character, and she doesn't take shit from the MC, who at times has the emotional maturity of a 5 year old. That being said, when their romance really blossoms, it's absolutely worth the wait. Adorable, hilarious, heartwarming, and yet they're both batsh*t insane lmao.
Honestly, I really like all the side characters. Though the NPCs, the ones that are 1-step less important than side characters, are sometimes bad. Like at one point within just a few chapters we have TWO young women who had their entire families destroyed, and by happenstance became entangled with the MC. Sharp eyed readers won't have an issue telling them apart, but if you're not paying really close attention, you might be confused. (special note, no there isn't any harem. It's strictly 1 FL, rest are side characters at best).
Anyway, it's a pretty good murim style story with an OP MC. Good romance, great FL, very interesting side cast (some of the Beggar Clan, his junior disciples, etc). The only real issue with the story is that the author... hmmm... just isn't very experienced? Like the author will randomly screw up and just write a fight terribly, or force a plot point. Something that a veteran author would have better abilities to just avoid doing stupid shit lol.
Can't call the author BAD, just inexperienced and/or inconsistent.
But overall, enjoyable enough and totally worth reading for either the humor or the romance (if you're looking for either one of those things BOTH could be potential draws for you). I AM invested in where the plot is going, and it's a big '3rd party shadowy force may have cause the Great War' type of conspiracy.
Check out if you like!
