I got into this manga after watching the anime. I feel like the anime did better than the manga with the aid of good voice actors and the hyperactivity ramped up. Roboco's weird antics, his friends weird personalities and the gags that came from them was funny and even slightly fresh, I did laugh out loud a few times watching the anime and even reading the manga, but as the author started repeating these jokes and the settings grew old and stale, it stopped being novel and fun.
The start was interesting enough but after a while, it really started to feel like the same thing over and over again. Sure, somewhat different scenarios but the jokes were the same all the time. I especially felt tired of the author starting to break the 4th wall more and more and not in a funny way. Constantly talking about the anime, the progress of it, when it would be released and when it was released and weird chapters that weren't funny at all about the cast messing around in "preparation" for the anime.
Then there's the constant way jump and its series are being shown over and over again, it appears to me the author is a huge a$$kisser and the only real reason he's getting published in jump is because he kisses their a$$es at every opportunity, praising them, making stories on how great they are and about the various other stories in jump and kissing a$$ of more successful authors. Doesn't help that I don't agree at all that the series he likes and praises are that good, rather I think most of them are boring, overhyped, generic garbage that should've ended far ago even if those manga often had a good start, actual great authors know when to end their series and don't just mindlessly push on because of fame and money with no end in sight. This author should've ended his a few volumes in as well since it stopped having anything to offer at that point. Not that I wouldn't do the same in their positions, I just don't believe they're anything more than average humans with some lucky breaks and decent drawing skill along with ok at best story writing ability, nothing I'd respect more than old joe working tirelessly being a plumber that helps people out when they're in trouble. Please don't give me the whole "but they wouldn't be so successful if they weren't awesome and super skilled" rant, that's simply not true and is an asinine argument, at best they managed to write something so inoffensive that most people could enjoy it a bit, which forever leaves their works at ok or even a good read but never great or awesome.
To me, it appears pathetic even if this manga tries really hard to make it a gag. It only sets itself apart by this aspect of 4th wall breaking and neverending praising and actual insertions of various characters, manga and so on. It's like reading some form of ad trying to be a manga at times.
I read about 118 chapters simply because I've been busy with various things and couldn't be bothered to switch manga since this one is somewhat inoffensive, it's just repetitive, boring and lacking creativity. I still had a bit more than 30 chapters but I really don't want to read anymore. I've seen everything this manga has to offer and the author is going even more crazy on jump inserts/praising and 4th wall breaking as his inspiration for actual story dwindles. Too much repetition and characters that are so predictable it's boring has me feeling like I can't be bothered to care anymore even I just want something light to read
Well, I'll give it 6/10 for the first few volumes and the pretty funny, albeit short, anime. Where I stopped, it'd be more of a 4/10 since it bored me to the point of forcing me to drop it.
A slice-of-life with plenty of gags that also nails the parodies it sets out to do, and so wholesome you'll find yourself rooting for the couples that eventually pop up.
Also, Gachi Gorilla best character.
