Those Who Hunt Elves is a great story about three unlikely allies getting transported to a world of elves and having to escape. How you ask? Finding tattoos of a spell on the bodies of elves across the world! The story has some of the most 90s writing and art you could ask for and is an all-around good time. The interactions of the main characters, as well as the side characters are always a good laugh. If you enjoy stuff like Slayers or Tenchi Muyo, Those Who Hunt Elves will be right up your alley.

Great humor, interesting characters, nice drawing style.
The plot is quite different to anime version.
Too bad, it's not fully scanlated yet. This is one of the best manga of 90's.

My first exposure to Those who hunt elves was the anime series.
The anime has awesome characters with great chemistry, a charismatic dub cast and good music.
The quality of the anime does suffer from a restricted budget, most notably when it comes to the animation of Junpei's martial arts scenes.
This is what makes the manga so great. We get the same awesome characters from the anime with some extra value. The fights in the manga are outstanding. Junpei is a bad-ass of note.
Plus the manga adds more insight into the characters and their pasts e.g Celsia's former school life including her childhood rival and her unrequited crush. Also the sibling like relationship between Junpei and Ritsuko,
I do not have a single criticism of the series. Oh how I wish more than the first 7 volumes were available in English.

Found two volumes of this title at my local comic book store and bought them. They had the first 6 but I won't be buying them.
Art is bad, jokes are lame and didn't make me laugh, plot is all over the place and things just happen randomly (the only reason I can find for these random encounters is that they work as filler chapters...not funny though or justified...things happen because the mangaka feels like it...simple as...they don't progress the plot and they are not funny so they don't serve any real purpose)
Seriously crap characterization as well...very formulaic and characters change the way they behave in an instant to correspond with where the plot is heading...
crap manga...the only thing I found interesting was the chapters were the mangaka is describing how he's making the manga (ahem...sorry playing the saturn with his assistants)
Avoid.

Came across the anime first then continued with the manga.
Found it utterly charming.
Really cared for the characters who have vivid personalities.
Humour was one of the best ive ever had in manga, this was supported by the semi-serious plot and style which made it a solid comedy. couldnt believe how old the manga was.
And that lil bit of ridiculousness that was the cherry on the cake.
Really, really hope someone scanlates the rest soon. This is a good series and i thoroughly recommend it to anyone who wants a laugh
