The way the uke handles being confessed to is perfect.
I'm really sick of the over reactions written in manga to confessions. Pretty much all yaoi or shoujo have the ones being confessed to over react etc for the sake of drama.
This story however has a very realistic and mature reaction, and it's perfect. High points from that alone.

This story is amazing. Two very dynamic characters who struggle with their own situations while also drawing closer together. The determination and animosity coming from Kurihara (as well as the breakdown) had my heart aching. These two really come together, helping one another in crucial moments before the 'omg, I think I'm in love with him' moment happens.
Funnily enough, Kurihara handles that better, which I did not expect. It's rivals to friends to lovers in that complex way that allows the pair to grow without completely becoming different people, so it's great. Basically, read gwkimmy's review and I throw my 100% 'read this now so we can talk about it' support behind that.

and you will surely not regret reading this one. The blossom of love between the two mains is perfectly executed. What the other lacks is completed by the other. Such a great pairing! The scenes are also portrayed realistically. The narrative is great and the conflicts each of them has is surely relatable even if it's not an aspect about school. Almost forgot to mention, the good art! Clean and minimilastic
I'm really a sucker for realistic manga stories so if ever you love this one, also check out Yukidoke no Koi

I absolutely love the dynamic between Kawase and Kurihara. It's so light and fluffy while also having some light angst to make me sympathize for them. Kawase is a sweet boy trying his best to make everyone happy while forgetting his own limitations, the type to go the diplomatic route to solve conflict while taking on burdens in order to make things easier for others. It makes sense that he's this way considering he's an older brother with a single mom. Kurihara, on the other hand, lives true to his emotions to a very blunt degree. He has no problem speaking his mind and hates the indirect, conflict-averse approach that Kawase tends to take. He isn't the type to share his thoughts, however, until Kawase comes into the picture. His initial conflict broke my heart, especially seeing him break down in front of Kawase. Just seeing these two characters interact was great. The chemistry between them was perfect.
I think the key part of pulling off the rivals become lovers trope is the chemistry between the characters, and this manga pulls it off wonderfully. These characters play off each other in a way that is entertaining, organic and believable. The way this pairing just WORKS reminds me of the chemistry between the pair in Ameiro Paradox, another great rivals become lovers manga. This is such a sweet and lowkey story, I'm really glad to have read it.
