Disappointing continuation of prologue...

I had originally given this manga a higher rating because I'd only read the oneshot. It was intriguing; the female lead seemed like a strong character who is really fond of a certain country in the middle East and its culture. She has a fated encounter with a young prince, who she mistakes for a commoner and therefore does something culturally unacceptable in his presence. They nevertheless promise to meet again.

I enjoyed the oneshot a lot and was excited to find there was a longer volume made for this story so I went out of my way to get my hands on it.

The full volume was actually good for the most part. It surprised me with a big twist and I was really impressed it hadn't gone the way I expected. But then it failed at the final hurdle. The end was ridiculous. Certain actions should not have been forgiven so easily, that's all I'll say.

Judging from the manga's cover on this site you'd be forgiven for mistaking the series as some fairytale romance of two lovers from opposite cultures. The truth? the manga description on this site is basically a literal summary of what you're gonna get when reading this 16 page oneshot. Woman is managing outdoor party for rich American tween girl in fake middle eastern country, sees mysterious Arab guy, they talk a bit, both see arrogant white male party goer disrespecting local customs (Americans, what did you expect?), she scolds said party goer and Arab man reveals he's a prince, kisses her for impressing him (wat) and rides of into the distance. Fin.

So yeah, if this was the start of an actual romance shoujou I'd give it more kudos. But for a self-contained story? Not really.

Oh gosh, I don't know what is wrong with me, but I simply love the middle east stories (although it is a first non-yaoi Arabian story I've read). Maybe I loved Aladdin a bit too much when I was a kid ^^'
Anyway, it has to be continued. It just came out as a one-shot and I'm sure people are going to love it enough to make it into a series. The characters are great, smart girl (yay! I hate reading about stupid girls), cute boy with high status and they all legal already! Thanks god it's josei wink
Back to the point, we don't know much yet. My guess is they wanted to see if people want a story about middle east but seriously, it starts so good! The plot goes smoothly, characters are likeable, circumstances quite believable, love inetrest intriguing and the art is very clear and cute, there's nothing to complain! Apart from the obvious - where the hell is the rest of the story!? Guess we just have to wait and see wink
Oh, and I forgot about one thing - the female character is older and that actually made me love it even more. We can only imagine how this fact can affect their no-yet-there relationship. Seriously, this one-shot made my imagination gone wild, I don't even need the rest of this story, it already have so many different plots i my head ^^

Stuff happens... and it's interesting and a little but intriguing even... but it really just feels like a very normal moment snatched out of someone's memory and made bombastic by adding a splash of an outlandish coincidence. Nice art, and just MAYbe this is supposed to be a prequel to a series... but as a standalone its a very... original read! Characters are also pretty unique and bold here. Art is per usual Ichinose sama standards, flawlessly breathtaking.
