Not that bad

I could admit that Blazer Drive can remind readers of 666 Satan and Naruto, but in terms of originality and story plot, this manga is entirely different from the two.

For starters, this takes place in future Tokyo, and another thing, it takes the concept of stickers and used them as the main basis for the plot (honestly, when was the last time a manga uses stickers as a main concept)?

Anyway, Blazer Drive is quite unique; the characters, though similar to their predecessors, are quite interesting, the plot, though somewhat fast, is on a good pace and it has it moments now and then.

How long will it last remains a mystery, but I think that if Seishi could do well from his previous manga, then he has no problem with this one at all.

666 satan all over again

Well, i'm not too impressed with blazer drive.
it's just 666 satan, with stickers instead of O-parts, and this time there's no devil inside the main character.
the whole training session with tenjik is exactly like 666 satan, learning to control your power and release it on the right moment.
Hell, even the porcupine looks like kirin from 666 satan!

It's also too fast-paced.

I don't think this manga will become great, but then again, who knows what will become of this?
Maybe it'll become another manga headed for the trash can, or maybe it'll become HUGE.
So huge that all Naruto fans will drop Naruto (which they should) and worship Blazer Drive.
Although I doubt that's going to happen any time soon.

Too early to tell if it will be better than 666 Satan. Has a decent start but since its monthly, every chapter leaves you very disappointed. Who wants to wait another month? I think it has a lot of hidden potential and we will see it somewhere down the line.

When I read this manga, I saw SO many similarities to Naruto and 666 Satan, that it makes me wonder if both of the Kishimoto brothers are starting to run out of ideas. I'm not trying to bash the series, it's just that when you read this manga, it makes you feel like you're reading a What If comic with some of the characters from Naruto and 666 Satan. You could easily find all of the characters' counterparts from Blazer Drive in Naruto and 666 Satan, and because of that, it makes the characters look bland and it's hard to root for them when they're battling. Even the "Mystickers" and the "Blazers" are EXACTLY like the "O-Parts" and the "O.P.T.S." from 666 Satan. And like someone below me mentioned, the whole "I'm willing to risk my life to protect those important to me" has been done too much.

For now, I'm going to give it a 2 only because the art is good. Even though only 6 chapters came out, Seishi could have made this different than 666 Satan and Naruto and actually prove to people that he isn't a one-trick pony or a copycat of Masashi. But sadly, it makes him look like that after all.

P.S. There's supposed to be a DS game for Blazer Drive coming out around the end of 2008 in Japan, and later over in the U.S. When I found that out, it got me thinking that Blazer Drive would be better suited for a video game, than a manga

well chapter one was a bit...corny...if you kind of did what I did and jsut accept everything then I guess you might find this interesting. I dont recommend comparing it to other manga as depending on your mindset you may either like this or be let down.

But personally...I find a bit...hmm...first of all from some angle he looks like sasuke...and that girl reminds me of some other girl Ive seen before lol...but the story is just so.."Im willing to risk my life to protect thsoe important to me" ish...Im really tired of hearing that but i guess its necessary for some people to get into this...

I wonder if theres a shonen that doesn't have cheesy lines to it..

I looked at the first chapter of the series, and the story made me think about Air gear. Although I like the art style of the mangaka and the concept was pretty original, stickers who would've thought? I hope the series isn't rushed since it would be a great if the mangaka took his time while progressing at the same time.

Anticipating for next chapters development

So far, for chapter one, the story seems promising with a lot more adventures coming up in the next chapters. Graphic wise, I would go for average. Somehow the story is a bit rush for me in chapter one though since he wanted the main character to be the focus as soon as possible in the begining of this manga.

I don't usually comment on the first chapter but ah well.

Overall, I thought that it was an interesting concept. It din't begin so impressively but showed promise by the end of the chapter. The art was great. The ideas, conflicts and characters were introduced as briefly as to probably fit in as much as he could in the first chapter, and this made the characters seem blithely shounen. Though depending on what happens next, it has the potential to be a really good manga. smile

So the only thing which was a bit 'hnnn' so far was the pacing. I thought more could have been done on the character of his brother and their relationship.
