The male lead is just horrible. The writer could pick any way by which the male and female leads would get together and fall in love but they chose contractual marriage. Immediately upon getting "married" the male lead stops respecting the female lead's boundaries, kisses her without consent repeatedly, tries to get her into having sex without announcing that she would have to do this prior to the contract being signed then passes that off as a joke and then adds a clause to their contract by which she cannot divorce him.
I would really love it if this kind of behavior was not glorified and normalized. None of this is treated with anything more than an exaggerated reaction shot from the female lead, as if being tricked into becoming the guy's wife and becoming stuck with him is just so silly for a character that specifically did not want to get married and wished for her freedom.
And to be clear, I'm not saying these elements cannot be part of the story, I'm saying that they need to be treated correctly and the writing needs to make it clear that this is a) not normal and b) screwed up instead of just waving it off as just quirky behavior or, even worse, the appropriate behavior by someone who is "falling in love" rather than a rapist in the making.
Trapping people into binding contracts without their consent to make use of them and maybe even force them into personal relationships that they don't want to be a part of (nominally at least, the writer will force the feelings one way or another) is not "cool" and is kinda reprehensible.
I'm sorry I just don't see how this is funny as the story insists on playing things off for laughs. The writer could very easily make the guy NOT do any of this, be a normal and nice guy and, as the female lead was already falling for him, have her hesitate to break the contract and simply go from there but I guess that the guy deciding divorce is not an option is just as good and trapping her in a loveless, contract marriage in hopes of MAKING her love him is just as reasonable of an option.
