Description
From Yen Press:
Tomoko Kuroki naturally assumed she'd be popular when she got to high school but then cold, hard reality swooped in for the attack. Turns out all the popularity points she's racked up in her video game dating sims are worth squat in real life, and Tomoko's far from prepared to navigate high school! How can she possibly hope to impress her classmates when she can't even talk to them? A new high-school heroine is born (maybe?)!

its not that the manga is bad, its that the manga is too real and hit dead centre to my own insecurities and problems that it is hard to read. i can only read it backward because the anticipation for the embarrassing moment is killing me. i just read some ch but i believe this is quite a good manga, easy to read, reasonable artwork, interesting main characters and have a good message in it.

This is one of the best manga I'm currently reading. The story is very different from the usual manga themes but it doesn't wholly depart from them in it's savage parodying of those same tropes. Some people here are complaining about how it gives them bad recollections of their high school days. But the ironic thing is that this humor is specifically aimed at those people. People like me, by the way. Someone who was one of the "popular kids" probably won't find it as funny as someone who has real stories which they can relate to those in this manga. And the art is anything but "amateurish" it's its own thing, it's called originality. Apparently, for some people, any deviation from the standard is a great sin so if realistic, hilarious, creatively draw manga doesn't appeal to you that don't read this one.

Rediscovering this manga was a very good thing. While it begins as a cringe humor gagfest, about halfway through it starts becoming an incredible slice of life coming of age human relationships deal that is OOZING with subtlety. It's really so fantastic, with writing that blows my mind. Wrote a loooong review on it detailing all the ins and outs of why it's now much improved. It really is so much better now.

Relatable and funny

If you've ever been kind of socially awkward, insecure, or anxious, this manga will resonate with you. Tomoko takes it to another level and it can get a bit much at times so I wouldn't recommend reading it all in one go. If it ever becomes too much, just put it down for a bit and continue some other day.

In recent chapters the character development and humor has become top tier. In the beginning it was just plain cringy awkward. Over time, the manga has gotten better and funnier. Back in the day I was unsure about the direction of the manga but I think it's evolving quite nicely. I would definitely recommend.

Social Anxiety

I think this manga is a very accurate representation of how people with social anxiety feel and act. The manga has some pretty funny moments but has a depressing undertone. Right now the manga lacks character development but their seems to be potential for future changes in her life.

Funny but a little uncomfortable

I laughed so hard that I was disruptive. Honestly, I'm not too far in this, so I'm not sure if this has any long-term appeal. If everything remains status quo, this'll probably get old fairly quickly; I'd like to see the mangaka either introduce some overarching plot, something that forces the protagonist to develop, or some form of social commentary. I really don't care what gets added, but as is, the manga's a little too one-note. Nevertheless, I think it's really funny. I can understand why some people would get annoyed at the protagonist (who is, admittedly, very misguided and awkward), but I think she's really adorable. Also, I love her accommodating brothers; he's really hilarious as well and works very well as the "normal" character.
If you're not into awkward and uncomfortable humor, this probably isn't for you. Otherwise, try out a few chapters, and see if you like it.

EDIT: Also, props to the mangaka for creating an ugly characters that's actually ugly (but still kind of cute). I feel like ugly characters and manga are typically characters with glasses, baggy clothes, and a bad haircut, but the protagonist in this manga's a great blend of creepy cute that's both convincing and endearing.

this Manga is now my favorite, it is very unique, intriguing, interesting, impressive and etc.
the art is not bad, though probably not mainstream and the comedy is hilarious.
You should try it whenever you feel depressed of other stories, this can rejuvenate you I swear.
I give it a 9

MAJOR shift in story

It's hard to talk about this series without some degree of spoilers because the series pivots so damn hard. So I'm going to spoiler tag this but what I'm spoilering is the rough chapter count in which the story shifts and roughly how it shifts. (mild theme spoilers follow) So this series begins with extreme pain and cringe. It's depressing, especially if you can at all relate or empathise with social anxiety, depression and the possible misanthropy that can result. It's similar to Onani Master Kurosawa in the MC's attitude, only in this series you just feel horribly bad for the MC because we know she holds these views because of how badly her anxiety and shut-in issues have harmed her. To be clear, the MC is an asshole, majorly, and unlikeable, but considering her illness we can still empathise she's only partly to blame

This feeling of near-constant pain pervades the series for around 70 chapters or more.
I think I had 2 great laugh out loud moments to this point, the rest was either pain or some minor level of amusement. I kept reading because I knew in advance from outside sources that the change was coming, though.
Things begin to change for the MC around

arc but it's a still slow change and in the end I'm left wondering exactly how did this all this development happen?

the series is now unrecognisable in its feel. [/spoiler] Instead the story feels incredibly

wholesome with chapter after chapter leaving me feeling just incredibly happy, like a cute SoL moe schoolgirl show
the MC references a few times earlier on.
I'm currently on chapter 173 and loving this series so much but it's so hard to give a rating to this series because of how different it is. The current chapters I'd rate a 10 simply due to the enjoyment I'm getting from it. But before the massive shift, it's not a series I enjoyed, I thought of dropping it many times (but didn't because I knew of the shift coming) so I'd probably give it like a 7 for that part?
So how do I rate this? I honestly am not sure how...Maybe I should withhold my rating until the series is done, which I think it will be within the next hundred chapters.

what a pitiful girl, but she's cute, i think.. she's unique, not the usual pretty and cheerful or the silent and mysterious heroines in other manga. and the way she thinks everyone around them and her interaction with her brother quite funny..

not that because it's a bad manga.. it's just.. i can't bear to watch her anymore.. it's so, pitiful... TT_TT
(lol)
cause when i read this manga, i kind of positioning myself as her brother,, maybe if you are a female you'll feel more embarrassed -?-
(no, it's more embarrassing if you think yourself as the female lead, you'll definitely not want to continue reading this.. lol)

i suggest it if you want to try to read this manga, just grab as many chapter as you possibly can get, then start reading it..
