In the near future, the state of Japan has disappeared. The island is now split in two. The north is administered by Russia and the south by China. The border between the two countries is delimited by a buffer zone, demilitarised and emptied of its inhabitants. It is there, in this forbidden zone, that the Wolang have found refuge. These 49 fugitives are the result of failed experiments by the Chinese army, which wanted to transform them into bacteriological weapons to be used against its Russian neighbour. Caught between China, which wants to erase the traces of its experiments, and Russia, which is trying to capture them to study them, the Wolang will have to fight for their survival.
