I first thought this is just one of those brainless ecchi high school romances. But after 12 chapters, I see that there's more substance here. Each chapter is a stand-alone story about teenagers' love and sex lives, and they're all surprisingly well-written.

The characters - especially the female characters - have been unique and unpredictable. The girls are simultaneously adorable, manipulative, and horny - just like real girls. They're just as confused as the boys when it comes to sex and love, and they don't easily fall into stereotypes. I find myself caring about these characters more because they actually have human flaws.

The sex scenes are tastefully done, and don't feel as gratuitous as I feared, because many of them are actually central to the plot. Sometimes, characters have sex because of love, but sometimes, they have sex because of loneliness, and sometimes, they do it just because they're horny.

The stories don't always play out the way I expected. You see these school kids struggling with their sexual urges, and romantic feelings, and things don't always end well. Some stories are funny (such as the boy who falls in love with a girl who hates sex), but many are bittersweet (such as the story of the boy who falls in love with his step-sister).

Give it a try. You may be surprised.

I think I should read it again...it has some quite good psychological and philosophical points there. Art is very very amiable. Like I said, Im looking forward to reading it again after some time pass...

Found this manga to be rather disgusting. Might just be me, but I found it pretty insensitive. It's mostly about sex. Raw sex with barely any emotional attachment. "Girlfriend"? That's not how I see it. Then again, lots of relationships start at this stage. You could say the manga is somewhat realistic. It's just not what I like to read. Can't say I recommend.

Sometimes it looks like all the girls in this manga are freaking awful. Sometimes it looks like the author hates women.

The Final volume is a lot more optimistic though. With more relationships that work. I also noticed none of the male characters even try to confirm their opinions, which is all we get sometimes.

A previous reviewer mentioned it seems to promote promiscuity, well a lot of people are quite willing to cheat. The whole book ends with what might be taken as an invitation to start an affair. Perhaps meant to signify that relationship problems are forever. But you can't help look at some of these people and see the obvious solution, and wonder why they don't have the fortitude to do better.

I thought Haru Yo Koi was bad, but at least in that story actions had consequences. This isn't at all like real life, or at least I really hope it isn't. Sex friends are one thing, but this is a story where sex friends are added on the sides of existing romances.

...Some group of "girlfriends" this is.

I did not find any of these stories to be heart warming. The author portrayed each story in the manner with which a heart warming scene should be portrayed, but the themes were less than endearing.

Sex without protection, sex with strangers, rampant cheating; how can this be portrayed as positive? One year from now, half those girls will be pregnant and the other half will suffer from infertility due to the STD's they carry.

This is a poorly written manga, mainly because the female characters are cruel and manipulating. Some claim that this makes it good because real people are flawed, but that's just plain wrong. The characters in these stories are not flawed, they're just dumb and inconsiderate. Characters with flaws usually struggle over moral issues and may make the wrong choice, but at least they've shown that they've thought it through. The characters in this manga have absolutely no such depth. They do what they do, and they never show any regret or doubt, or the consequences of their actions. In fact, the author apparently tries to justify it. It's like cheating on a guy with his own brother is perfectly fine, or manipulating a guy into sex, when what he really wants is a relationship. That would be fine, if they would elaborate or show the consequences of acting in such a way, but they don't. Most of the female characters are simply without any depth, as opposed to the male characters in this.
Sure, girls can be bitches in real life, but that doesn't mean I want to read about, unless they give the characters depth, and elaborate on the consequences of such behaviour.

Anyone who finds this "charming" in any way, must be a pervert. The stories focus on sex and cheating, and most of the female characters disgust me so much that the manga is a pain to read. All the stories I've read feature either sex between strangers, between people who are not willing to be in a relationship, or where the girl is already in a steady relationship with another guy. It's basically impossible to feel sympathy for characters you want to beat some sense into. The fact that they try to justify it, just makes it worse.

It's kind of hard to cut through this series. maybe because it's the collection of short stories.
Anyway, I think that it's more sexual than romantic. If you put sex into love story it usually become more realistic, but I don't this is that case. Some of the story is cute but some, especially the longest story, is psycho and hentai... I like those light and sweet ones and the artwork, so I gave it 5+2=7

btw, I don't recommend it for girls or guys that never read hentai.

Some good, some bad, as someone said already. There's just so many characters that I ended up just measuring the worth of this manga by the "net awesomeness" of all of the characters. I didn't find it that disgusting or enlightening, since I've read other manga or stories that have similar aims.

Also, even though I agree the art was great, some of the girls' faces annoyed me.
