Thank God, not another school life romance novel with airheaded woowing girls that conect love with how many sparkles apear when you look at a boy.
High School Love with sex. Good read.

Hmm. I actually found this manga fairly interesting. The fact that it portrays true emotions with contemporary settings and speech gives it a nice feels. Not to mention the obviousness of the art. Of which is simply fantastic. However, the oddly shaped lips were amusing to watch hehe.

Translation, editing, speed and overall quality is to be admired from this group. Though, what can you expect more from this amazing group?

If I were to sum this up in a sentence it would probably go something like this: Amazing in artwork and storytelling, this manga portrays true emotion in a contemporary setting that gives a sense that the author can relate to the reader.

But anyways. Here is a review... kinda.

The characters in each 'one-shot' have different body builds, emotions, and a part of which can relate to everyone. They also have flaws that are understandably realistic and enjoyable to read.

And though this series revolves around sex, a lot, it isn't pushed to the point where it seems to have no plot.

If you think deeply into what this manga is trying to say, because there is a message in each story, you can come to a conclusion that we may be one of these girls, in one way or another.

Anyways, I really recommend this manga if you want something interesting to read.

Oh and I personally thank KOTOHONA for scanlating.

Yeah, they're all stupid, dishonest, occasionally unpleasant and often unsympathetic. I’m a Christian but I enjoy reading about flawed people, and they all feel very real to me. It’s also nice to see some guys who aren’t perverts and girls who aren’t sweet and kind in a romantic story, almost seeming the other way around at time.

It's really not. It's story after story about these young scrawny underdeveloped shounen protag-looking boys having sex with women WAY out of their league. Sometimes even stealing them from their 10/10 high-spec older boyfriends.

It's just annoying self-gratification for unpopular losers to self-insert into.

it IS really realistic, and i liked the fact that some chapters were new characters and some chapters were continuations of the characters that were in another chapter. it was a pleasant surprise every time you started a new chapter~

i actually even grew to like the art, although the duck lips kinda threw me off at first...

anyways, i liked the stories - and what variety!!! it wasn't just your normal guy-girl love, and it expanded upon the different contexts of the word "girlfriend" which was the tying factor of all the stories. it goes to show not everyone fits the mold and that relationships come in all different forms and go in all different directions.

... and it's really erotic, which i liked too~

Girlfriend is a manga which leaves me with mixed feelings. Very mixed feelings.

One one hand, the art is gorgeous, and a couple of the stories are rather sweet.

One the other hand, the female characters are disloyal, two-timing sluts who bring my blood to a boil.

Now, I'm no stranger to ecchi manga, and such material can be rather fun to read, if only for the sex. Girlfriend, however, goes beyond simple guilty pleasure.

The sheer hedonistic nihilism present in this manga is simply sickening. The problem isn't the cheating (there's plenty of cheating portrayed in just about every hentai manga) or a lack of a story - but that the story defends the cheating.

Some may see this immoral, and quite frankly disgusting, behavior as "realistic" and that it reflects the real world. So? That doesn't make it any easier to stomach. If you see the characters acting like..., well, 'whores' is the only word which comes to mind, how the hell are you supposed to sympathize with them? (And if you do, I urge you to seek counseling.)

And that's the problem - the author portrays these betrayals in not only a positive light, but seems to honestly encourage it.

Like another reviewer mentioned, the author could have shown the negative consequences of the characters' actions, and at least pretend that there was a lesson to be learned. But no, the only message this manga delivers is that it's perfectly okay to cheat on your boyfriend - you'll still get the prince (and a fuck-buddy) in the end.

Girlfriend is one of those mangas that shows a pretty face in order to hide the ugliness underneath. In the end, it fails to deliver a romantic (or even compelling) story for those who actually want to read the manga, as well as fails to deliver enough nudity for those who are in it for the sex.

Unless you are like the author, and like to see two-timing skanks being portrayed as the 'heroines', you'd do best to stay away from Girlfriend.

Kinda perverted, but the art is cute...
Personally, most stories kinda make me pissed off, because the the characters cheat behind each other's backs. But, guess that's life xD Overall, I love the cute characters, and to me, art is the most important thing xD

Simple series on complicated things

A great series for mature minded people.
Instead of the usual pure-minded shy or too overactive girls penned to manipulate loser male readers with no experience whatsoever.... this series is meant to show the complicated thing called attraction, relationship, and especially on the very complicated creatures known as girls.
For those who want fake corny simplified dumb romance, stay with your safe shoujo and shonen books, but for those who are mentally old enough, you'd enjoy this series.
