Description

There is a world of myth and magic that intersects ours, and only a special few can see it. Misao Harada is one such person, and she wants nothing to do with magical realms. She just wants to have a normal high school life and maybe get a boyfriend. But she is the bride of demon prophecy, and her blood grants incredible powers, her flesh immortality. Now the demon realm is fighting over the right to her hand...or her life!

...just because everyone else on this page is like "Ahhhhh! Horrible manga!". It's not that bad. In fact, I liked it very much.

At several points in my life, I've read Black Bird from the start and either loved it or hated it. Misao starts off weakly, but she does eventually start getting it together and fighting for what she wants (I must say, though, it took her forever to figure out the concept. Geesh.) I wouldn't say she's a protagonist you'd want to emulate, but she's no longer completely spineless by any stretch of the imagination.

Kyou's pervertedness throws me for a loop. He's too serious and formal-looking most of the time to really carry off the whole "I am a pervy man!" properly... and I don't even like pervy men. I understand it's supposed to be a contrast, but there is hilarious contrast, and there is contrast which throws the reader off, and this is a case of the latter. That said, though, I admire his loyalty, I laugh at his lines, and I think altogether that he's a good guy. There are just better ways than the blatant "touch Misao whenever wherever!" way he does it.

The art is fair. The plot is cliched, but well-executed. The pacing is good enough to be emotionally tugging from time to time. Overall, this is a manga I liked; funny, sweet, a little smutty (but not quite... although it's going to happen, and I'm not really looking forward to it), emotional and dramatic.
It doesn't have any outstanding good points, but it takes all the average points it has and somehow works them all together into an excellent story.

That is cliche. And kind of cheesy. But it's the fun kind. It was an enjoyable read - if you feel like the genre, you could do worse.

I've completely lost interest in this manga. I've gotten to ch 13 and then dropped it completely. I mean, I really like the plot of this manga, and the fact that there's a human x non-human relationship, that's what made me stick to it for so long. BUT! Misao is just soooooooo weak. She is such a crybaby and all she does is cower behind Kyo. And why is she so scared of seeing those monsters? I would think she would have gotten use to it after seeing them her whole life. I honestly don't see what Kyo or anyone else likes in her. I find her completely annoying. She just has this so-called "special blood". If she is so special, why can't she do anything??

If Misao was a tougher and stronger heroine, I think that this manga would have been one of my favorites, but as it is now, it is at the bottom of my list.

If you like sweet and lovely stories than this manga IS NOT for you.
It is actually quite dramatic story about youkais. It is about love and about difference in cultures between humans and youkais. And it is about survival in a harsh world.

I can't remember how many chapters i went through before dropping this completely. (somewhere around Vol 1, i'm guessing) I find this series overrated and horribly written and cannot believe this is "Award-Winning Work."

I personally feel sorry for Misao, having those cards dealt for her

Having to choose between being killed by creatures who want her blood or flesh or losing her virginity THEN marrying her childhood friend/first love Whose an disgusting, perverted loser who clearly wants her body and power? not to mention Misao has to lean on Kyo to survive Since chapter after chapter she's attacked and Kyo flies in to save her with his tongue of healing. (She has powerful blood yet she's completely Weak?) Regardless what Sakurakoji-san says, technically over time wouldn't that amount to an pint of drinking her blood? yet Sakurakoji-san mentions Misao being an strong girl, is someone's definition of an Strong girl someone who doesn't go insane or commit suicide after things that happened to them like Misao? Besides it's Way too fast paced and i still think it's SO Stupid that after that possessed guy slit Misao's throat with an boxcutter, when she has no idea what's going on he's all "You really don't know? i'll tell you!" then tells her about the prophecy. Seriously? The only character i really liked was Taro but not long after he came in, I had to drop this.

Wonder how much longer this manga will drag on...

People can hate or keep wondering why we like but I myself am enjoying this series. Didn't really like misao but she ok. Kyo just a prevert thay hold misao dear to him. Nic3 plot nice artwork. I'll just keep reading it.

I am still reading it, but I have made some conslusions ...First of all, I can't stand Misao, she is just a tipically blonde, breasty, stupid girl, not a very original and strong female character. I understand that she is young..but what's with the constant weeping and crying, and..ughhh! If she was really an outcast, and a weird girl, because of her abilities she would definately be a stronger and wiser persona, not a spoiled brat..I kind of get the feeling that the manga is trying to show the dominance of the male sex, how can the main male character be forgiven even if he molests the poor girl, just because he is handsome and hot...and everything revolves around sex, I don't have any problems with that, but there is no deeper story into it, and eventually becomes boring..

When i first read this manga, I already loved it and read all the way off up to the current chapter in vol 13. I still love it. I don't think It's the best nor the worst but I think that this book is the best that the author did so far if you read her series.
When i say these opinion i must say I was just shock on reason why they love and hate this series which i found it a bit “Strange” yet “werid.”
I like all the characters and the plot. I love the Artwork and the story. IF YOUR THE TYPE THAT NOT INTO FANSTAY 0R INTO DEMONS AND SUPERNATURAL THEN I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS SERIES FOR YOU!

But i must admit that it's really up to you and your tastes of what you like to read or not for this series.

As far as what “meniel” said, there is no brainwashing about this series being the worst but being called “creepy” or a “decent” Human being is just stupid. You either like it or you hate it. It's complete normal but this series is very popular indeed in japan, and it seems to be that this series and the author is making her money, so i must say that this series MUST be doing something right. But going to the fact that you have to be a “decent” human being is irrevent. You don't have to be “decent” to read this, if there's even such a thing as “decent” in the first place.

However I will say on thing that ticks me off just a little is that how kyo treats miaso. It feels like he controls her very being or i'd say uses her whenever he can, cause she is his bride and he holds her life in his hold as everybody tries to steal her away. However if you keep reading Kyo has change his way of loving her and to be honest Misao doesn't even mind it as she truly loves him. Maybe that's not real romance to some people but love can be share in many different ways. And basicaly this is normal.

After reading this series I myself love it and don't give a crap to what others think. This series has it pluses and negetive just like any other story you reading...and this is no different. I must say that this isn't the best I do recommend it if ur into the category i said from above. Or at least give it a chance by at least reading 3 vols not just one chapter.

I hope you didn't like this, because this manga is horrible. Let me say this: if you loved this manga, you REALLY have bad taste. Sorry to disappoint you, but it's true. This manga... this manga is the worst manga I've ever read. The plot is mediocre, characters are banal, the girl is completely stupid and the boy is annoying. Both the main characters are totally stereotyped. The plot is so banal that I could see how the manga ends before I read it! This manga is not only a failed smut, but it's also a very brainless work. If you think you are okay with your health, DON'T READ THIS MANGA, because then there will be a 50% probabilty that it will make you brainwashing. And then you'll have fishes in your head.

I really like this manga. The characters are pretty good and the story is nice. I like Misao because, even if she's weak (can't help it, every shoujo female protagonist are super weak ¬¬) she isn't a crybaby who can't do anything, I mean, she's protected by Kyo, yes, but she wants to help him too, she wants to be useful, and that's not very common in shoujo mangas.
The artwork is really wonderful too.
I won't say that is the best manga neither that's the worst. There are a lot of different opinions and I recommend you to read it, that way you'll know if you like it or not.

I usually read the opinions because I like to know what others thinks, and I always respect that opinions, but this time I read one that shocked me.
One of the things said in this opinion is this "I don't mind stories with super possessive/abusive boyfriends and weak submissive girlfriends, what I mind is when this sort of relationship is viewed as romantic. And in this case it is."
Well, first of all I will say is that in my opinion this romance isn't creepy, and I don't think that I'm a creeper too ¬¬ (this goes for a comment made in this opinion too). Well, the thing is that in this manga the sex is rather 'important', Kyo wants to have sex (HE'S A MAN, YOU KNOW?) but, like in a lot of shoujo mangas, the female is 'scared' (she's the typical innocent protagonist). Throught the chapters we can see situations where he tries to do it but this doesn't mean that he treates her like an object (or so I think, or what, when you have a boyfriend you don't want to do it with him? I think that sex is a very normal thing in a relationship, and wanting to do it with the person you love is NORMAL too)
But what shocked me the most is that don't minding "stories with super possessive/abusive boyfriends and weak submissive girlfriends" you criticize this romance, Kyo isn't abusive (possesive yes, like almost very male shoujo protagonist XD) and I don't thinks that Misao is submissive, if the guy you like touches you is normal to feel excited, even if you're scared.

I don't say all of this to argue with anyone, but sometimes when you read the opinions you are influenced by them (that's the purpose, ne?) and I wanted to give my thoughts to everyone.
I highly recommend everyone who wants to read it to do so, maybe you don't like it, but maybe you do 🙂

Whyyyyy doesssssss everyoneeeeee loooooooveee this MANGA?? It's too quickly paced, it's too cheesy, the plot is confusing, it's extremely immature.
Ugh! The main girl bugs the hell outta me, I want her to just.....not exist.
I thought I'd like it....but I tried kicking my ass to finish but I can't, it's not good D:
it's good if you are new at reading mangas and crap and haven't seen the WORLD OF BETTER MANGAS THAN THIS yet. >+<
