Each of these short stories have a special place in my heart. The ghosts shown often times are so nice or the world weaved through images sheds light on forgotten ideas & feelings. Highly recommend.
Look. I would really like to not write any reviews at all, because I'm bad at writing, and my English is really limiting. But when I saw this manhwa recieved the score of only 6.7, I was so MAD i decided to just do it.
I remember reading this last year, when batoto hasn't crashed down yet. 7-8 months for me is quite a long time ago (lmao) but the impression this manhwa gave me was so strong that i can still remember some of its episodes!
I remember how gorgeous the art is, how each story has its own color palette. From creepy black and red to dreamy blue and teal. The artstyle is also beautiful and suits the tone of this series. (The only issue i have is how each story's male protagonist has the same face and almost the same hairstyle.)
I remember how gorgeous each tale is. Honestly, the categories listed above only covers the first episode because Whisper is a collection of various tales of various topic (but yeah half of it still are, welp, ghost stories =)))) ). "Modern whimsical (and creepy) fairy tales" probably suits the description? Some with happy endings and some with sad ones. The topics include: Relationships between the living and the dead, a girl randomly navigating through people's houses (lol), letting go and accept the present, vengeace, prophecies and superstitions, familial love, a friendship between two total strangers from 2 different sides of the earth with their only way of communicating is telepathy (god i know im horrible at summery but this particular story brought tears to my eyes), and many many more... Frankly, i would like to give the author A+++ for storytelling. (Imagine how surprised i was when i found out the artist also made "Perfect Honeymoon" which frankly i dislike, but then, that manhwa's author is someone else so shrugs)
Tl,dr: Beautiful art + beautiful story. If you're looking for ghost stories or slice of life with whimsical/surreal tone and moment of "OH MY GOD I DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING", then I hope this manhwa is for you. Hope you'll enjoy reading it!
(Sorry for sounding like im giving this manhwa way too many credit but. I just. Love this manhwa. That much. sweats)
P.s. On whether the stories are confusing or not. I say no, but the previous reviewer says yes (maybe im lucky because im already familiar with the topic of how wacky and weird the ghosts are o)-( ). So honestly i think it's up to you now?...
Although the art is acceptable, the stories make no sense whatsoever! I don't get any of the endings or the plot. I don't know if I'm the only one but... I just don't get them. I do t get any of them. I don't know what they mean with the end and I don't understand what happened either.
