11 Volumes (Complete)

Mariners team: Yamaoka, Aoyama. Wings team: Kenzaki Touya, Yakumaru. Mets team: Akiyoshi. Orioles team: Hotta Sei, Sendou Yorito, Touma Tatsumi, Hatano, Namidano, Haru(who attended school with Sendou), Kunisaki Koichi, Rusty Griffin. Akiyoshi Joutaro x Hotta. Touma Tatsumi x Sendou Yorito. Akiyoshi is a widower (wife name was Irene) and has a son, Akiyoshi Ai. Kyosuke and Ai are cousins and a couple, Kyosuke x Ai. If I understand correctly about Touma past: he had an uncle Kazamatsuri and two cousins, younger Reijiro and older Soichiro. Touma' first love was Soichiro; he had weak heart and committed suicide. Later Touma was in love in Akiyoshi due to daddy issues (meh). When Touma had accident and was unconscious, Sendou's voice didn' wake him up, Akiyoshi's did. Sendou has 2 brothers: Takuto (meek one) and Omito (mean one). In the past he was in the gang (horrible gangbang rape) but had good grades. Sendou first love was his brother Obito (they had quite emotional sendoucest but no actual incest... e.g. Obito had sex with Mazaki while thinking of Yorito, and Yorito had sex with his English tutor Himuro-sensei while thinking of Obito). Later new couple bloomed, Sendou Obito (seme) x Mazaki Junya (uke, doctor) Young Sendou had a friend named Shiina. He was in love with Sendou but it didn't go well due to misunderstanding. Shina died quite young and at some point Sendou and Touma attended his funeral. Anyway, taht Himuro-sensei took young Sendou to thd gay bar where he met Yamamoto, a leader of deliquent (gay) group. Soon after that gangbang took place. Back to the present: this new player Kunisaki Koichi semed kind of into Touma, poor Sendou is jealous but later Konami Tsukasa arrived, Kunisaki's childhood friend so it turns into Kunami x Kunisaki. Later... There been such a mess, after accident Touma had something wrong with his head so his feelings to Sendou weakened and feelings to Akiyoshi strengthened... There was awkard scene, Touma kissed Akiyoshi, Hotta and Sendou saw it. Hotta punched stupid Touma (more because he felt sorry towards Sendou than felt jealous over Akiyoshi, Hotta, you are a good guy). After seeing that unfortunate kiss, Sendou slept with Kenzaki. And thenTouma regained his normal state of mind... And this stupid thing occured: Sendou will belong to the one who will manage to become homerun king, so rivalty between Kenzaki an Touma is going on. Then Hagino, female journalist discovered this rivalty but she did not revealed this news. Therefore Touma won the title of homerun king. Reijiro and Hagino got married, Touma went with Sendou to his hometown and introduced Sendou as his lover to his mother. Touma also gave Sendou a golden ring. New pairing appeared, Kenzaki x Rusty.
I can't say I care much for sports but I enjoyed it in this manga. She did a good job implementing it and it was quite exciting to read about the baseball matches and whatnot even though I don't even know the game that well.
What surprised me was, that the guys the manga started with, Hotta and his love interest Akiyoshi, become only side characters very quickly and then there's almost all of the 11 volumes about the 2nd couple, Touma and Sendou. Not that that's a bad thing because they are very interesting and I really liked Sendou, but the fact that nothing seems to be going on with Hotta anymore, and a year passes with them not doing anything at all, is a bit weird.
There's a 3rd couple being introduced in volume 10 as well, and I still don't know what's going on with Akiyoshi and Hotta now! But I suppose that the series is planned (or was?) to go on so the first couple was going to show up again sooner or later.
Well all in all, I liked the manga a lot. It had a lot of very exciting moments, the art is quite good, many the characters are likable and there's not much of the stereotype weak uke and abusive seme going on.
I'd recommend this to anyone who doesn't mind sports and wants to read a longer manga with an interesting story.
really?
To be honest, I would rate it better if it won't try too hard to insert actual baseball plot and focus it to the relationship (and probably) smex. At this rate, the baseball plot hindered the series....
I still love the artwork, though. And there's like, countless amount of smex...
...but the plot distracts me and not in a good way.
this manga is good its. though i dont particularly like basebal i still stay for the story development of the characters relationship. during the first volume it was mainly about the relationship of hotta and akiyoshi but then shifted to mainly focusing on sendou and touma's relationship with some of hotta's and akiyoshi.
if not for the sudden shift of characters i would have rate this higher but hey 9 is still good
Normally i would certainly not venture in this but because i really like this mangaka i gave it a shot and am glad i did. The art work is good and the story as well, although there are times were am a bit lost because of the whole baseball thing but you get used to it. Hopefully i will get to see some new scans out soon because am dying to know what comes next.
