At least, so far, none of the humans have magic.
This is a portal apocalypse scenario, but without any human abilities, skills, or even a game interface.
There are "hunters" with "hunter licenses," but they appear to be strictly military with modern combat gear and guns.
Overall, it is a more "realistic" take on this.
Despite the monsters, the actual apocalypse was brought about by humans and some nuclear bombs. The reason for this is never explained beyond calling it a "war."
The protagonist is indeed quite cynical, practical, and alone, in the way you see in some end-of-the-world survival scenarios. The difference here is that he was like this way before the apocalypse.
It is a bigger world than usual, and even though this takes place in South Korea, there's a world beyond that with hints of politics, activities of governments abroad, and rich people.
After the bit about the preparation and his initial survival, the story get's into a groove that reminds me of the "slice of life" genre, except with more death. So I guess it would be "slice of death" or something, hah.
The story is unique enough to catch my interest, but I can't really say whether it is good or not. I don't expect any major existential revelations about the monsters or portals, martial arts, or anything that might "save the world."
Yeah... this protagonist won't be saving the world, even if that came up, lol.
In any case, I will continue to follow this.
