If you choose to read this, then be prepared for the plot twists! It doesn't stop until the very end -- the last three chapters were super crazy, and I'm not even talking about the epilogue too.
While I loved the twists and turns, there were still a few things I didn't like, hence the 9 rating. Honestly it'd be a 10, but I couldn't stand...
how the author made everybody (humanity) so despicable and hateable, as if the government really was so infuriatingly evil -- but well, are they truly? Read til the end LOL. They DID have their reasons, but they were crap reasons in my mind because everything they did was so unethical and illegal that it didn't make sense. And seriously, how could the general public be so easily manipulated and stupid? I guess that's why there's the term "dumb masses" to describe that kind of herd mentality. I couldn't believe how little faith the author had in society -- that he'd write out everyone to be like stupid bad guys. I get that the government and military can be corrupt entities, but not to this near-satirical scale. And sadly there were only a handful of sane, good characters, but there were only like 5 of them, and you all know who they are. I thought the author must really hate people or something.
The entire disaster could've been avoided if an empathetic person just TALKED to Jin or publicly stood up to this whole mess, but no, it's necessary for plot, so a whole city had to get destroyed for the point to come across. Whatever.
This webtoon will rile you up well because of how the story and characters play out.
Jin Lee is an antihero. Stories of this nature will make you question ethics: what is right and what is wrong? If this happened in real life, what would you do? As this webtoon shows, please don't be an idiot and keep your rationality and humanity until the very end.
Interestingly, I love how the ending is open-ended and not perfect. It's an apocalyptic type of story, so you cannot expect a happy ending. This webtoon is dark, gory, and depressing, so I was surprised at the amount of feels I got from the ending -- more specifically, the epilogue. Love how bittersweet I felt.
Also, don't be deterred by the daily pass coins! Webtoon only selects the good Korean series to be daily pass ones, so you KNOW this has gotta be good-ish quality. It's only 95 chapters, so it's not too long and it's at a readable length.
Enjoy!
