The story is good and the premise is interesting but the characters are seriously lacking in personality. You have the typical crybaby uke and pokerface seme. Kichou is the man and Kagerou is the woman, not only in the uke/seme way but in every aspect of their personalities. So you also have the shoujo archetypes of "distant but possesive" male lead and "weak indecisive" female lead.

Even after they become free Kichou dresses as a man but Kagerou remains with long hair and dressing as a woman.

If I wanted to read a menxwoman romance I would stick with shoujo, but that's just me...

I recommend this to people who aren't used to BL and enjoy a bit of light S&M.

OMGGGG I can't believe I stumbled upon this! I NEVER read yaoi (just got into it like yesterday) and I'm totally in love with this manga. All the other ones had crazy freaky sex scenes in ever chapter. Not only do I loooove the story line, I think the artwork is fantastic! I like how Kagerou's features are similar to those of a female bc I'm still not used to yaoi butttt I find it interesting haha. Great transaction for me! I would totally recommend it.

Even if I say this yaoi is amazing or beautiful(which it is), it does not begin to define this impeccable piece of work. I just know that I will always cherish the love story of Kichou and his princess because it is one of the best love stories I have ever read.

After reading this masterpiece again (I can't get enough) I want to add that the art is so gorgeous! It's like there are tiny fireworks in my eyes. Itsuki Kaname is so talented.

Another comment I want to add is that their development from childhood to adulthood is absolutely amazing. I guess that is part of the charm. We see Kichou and Kagerou change and develop into adults but their love for each other never fades from childhood. I find myself crying again.

Okay, so often times, anything to do with the characters being prositutes ends up having a tragic story flow. This one isn't any different... At first. ;P
Well, come on, the story DOES need to develop first right? It won't be so smooth-flowing for both of them for some time, but stay on it.

Currently, the scanslation is at volume 2, and how they left it hanging will truly pull on your hearstrings and make you feel depressed, what with the situation of the two protagonists and Kaname Itsuki sensei's drawing- where the emotions are very well expressed on their facial expressions, too well in fact, that you might somewhat be influenced by the emotions of the character at present.
However, fear not. Since this is based on the novel, Hanafurirou, I can assure you that it WILL have a happy ending.

A warning though, for those who are not too fond of romance/angst genre, it would be better for you to wait until all (assumingly, if it follows the novel length) 8 volumes are scanslated.
This has a lot of angst- even with the mood lightener you still won't be able to get the depressing thought induced by the previous pages.

Even so, this is truly a great read.

I find myself returning often to this manga because no matter how often I read it, the beauty and the poignancy of this story doesn't seem to dull. What did brings to the reader simply defies description. Enough said.

I held off starting this series for so long because I kept thinking bleh they totally look like sappy chiks or something. but wow it is so good, I totally take everything back! There are several times already that I have almost cried even, it's a really incredible story and romance. If this series ends badly, though, I am going to be so so so angry I'll never read anything from suzuki sensei again :þ

YES, the guys seem to look like girls, but the story...is GOOD!!! It's really GOOD!!!! There are even flashbacks about when they were children, and how their relationship grew in t hat brothel. It's a shame that their relationship changed to cat/dog...but it was for a good reason... (spoiler) since they were found out, and one of them would have been tossed away. To keep him working in the brothel (since he looked so reluctant to take customers) he ignited the challenge that not only sealed their future of working there (which is good cos they can be together) but it had the slightly undersirable yet cute effect of turning them into cat/dog.

Alas, the last chapter scanlated (v2.6) is such a cliffie!!! eeeeeeeeeekkkkkk!! DP - give us moooooore........

This manga is great. The idea is really interesting, and the art is soooo pretty. The only thing that annoys me is that I kept on thinking "yuri?" when I'm reading it... The art's a bit too pretty, so much that the guys look like girls... Then again, they ARE prostitutes, and pretty to look at, so I shouldn't complain ^__^

Good story, beautiful art

This manga have a very original story, it´s about the friendship between two boys who were sold to a male brothel. The timeline covers their story since they were kids to the adult age. The art is simply beautiful, one of the most beautiful mangas I ever read. The scanlation is in process so I didn´t read the complete story, just volume 01 but so far it caught my attention, I´ll look forward for more.
