Natori leads a reasonably successful life and gets a job at a decent company. However, in his fifth year at the company, he finds himself being scolded by Ichigase [a junior colleague who had admired Natori in high school], a talented younger boss, for his inability to do his job, while his peers are moving up the ladder one after the other.
