Description

Kurokawa Lisa is an ordinary office worker, who has practiced lots of cooking while living alone. One day, she wakes up in another world, with a concerned little spirit hovering over her! She has apparently been transported to a magical, spirit-filled realm by the will of the goddess, and there is no known way for her to go back. She is taken in by a wealthy couple, and they and her new spirit helper treat her with nothing but kindness. There is one problem, however – the food in this magical world is gross! Lisa insists on helping the household cooking staff prepare a traditional meal from her world, and it is a big hit with her hosts. Soon Lisa knows what she should do in this new world; she should open a cafe and treat everyone to delicious food!

Basically, a long winded my food in my world is better than yours without much thought. You can treat it like a game and guess what she'll criticize next.

Good, but not outstanding

First, the food is good. Not particularly international feeling, but it's pretty good for the story's scope.

The art is stable, but not particularly great in any part. Especially with the more emotional scenes. The food illustration is perfectly fine though, and looks yummy.

The plot's ok? I'm interested in how Risa will achieve her goals, but some parts are too clichéd. The timeskips don't really feel concrete, and it makes the pacing feel mushed together at times. All in all, it's a nice way to spend your time, but there's better reads if you're looking for food manga.

Onto stuff that doesn't really matter, I think the mangaka has a pretty decent sense of style that's highlighted through the bold outline she uses. I think I would've liked to see a larger focus on seasonality since I think food is inextricably tied to crops which of course, link back to seasons. The world the protagonist is isekai'd into feels like easy mode with how lenient most everyone that matters are. I don't really think that I care too much about that though, but It's just something I noticed.

Art is great, everything else is fine

The most outstanding thing in this manga is the art; it's quite exceptional. Though, it's to be expected nowadays with manga of this type. The food is well detailed and makes me hungry sometimes when I see them. Everything else in the story is fine-- not bad but not great either. The same could be said about the characters, no one really stands out and most of them are quite forgettable. I remember coming back to read the newly updated chapter and having forgotten about most everyone except for the two leads. I even had trouble recalling the last arc of the story.

It's a pretty generic shoujo isekai. If you want to read a cute manga and learn a bit about cooking/baking this is the one for you!

"Girl gets isekai'd to a world with bad food so she opens up a cafe. Not bad so far, although nothing too special either. So far it's mainly been about bread because the world the main character is in apparently doesn't know what yeast is, or how to measure ingredients, or how to combine more than a couple ingredients for a dish despite supposedly having living standards similar to modern day Japan due to magic. It's a lighthearted series, with the main focus in these first few chapters being about bread and how kind everyone is to the main character. It's fine to read but don't expect spectacular storytelling, or very compelling characters."
