The manga frequently decides it needs drama though so one of the other characters sticks their nose in and calls him shitty for... Helping someone? The logic is never presented in a way that makes sense, they're just jealous because they want to be with him or mad because he isn't adhering to societal norms. It gets even worse when the playboy dude is introduced, who is designed to be as hateable as possible but doesn't feel like a real character as much as a plot device pretending to be one. It's really frustrating because in low drama moments the manga is delightful. Just gets shit when it kicks up... And it feels the need to do so repeatedly.

It is interesting to see an author with the unique ability to make you like each character less the more time you spend with them, though. Normally it's the other way around...

I enjoyed reading what's been released so far, but man, oh man these characters are insufferable.

To be honest, I started reading this manga on a whim - I saw the creepy title and premise and read it just to feel disgusted and despise these kind of mangas. Well, boy was I wrong. It's wholesome and bittersweet. I never thought the ML as trash, he really is kind and a good person. He won me over when he said to Sayu that acting the right way just means he is not a trashy person, not that he is a great person in general, so she should not lower her standards. The story is mostly slice of life, their struggles and their relationship with the people around them. I'm cheering for Sayu to heal and be happy, in a truly healthy way.

I am currently in chapter 29, so I hope it keeps the good quality.
