A very long story that focuses on pointless issues like the structure and rules and levels of sects and academies, the materials a library was made (where You XiaoMo took the sumeru seal skill), introduction of characters that will never be part of the plot (the demon clan, the successor of the tang family, etc). Important battles are overlooked or described in one sentence (You XiaoMo spend 1 year in the illusion of the TongTian Emperor and we never learnt in detail how Ling Xiao gathered his allies to go save him, Yin Ge's and Feng Chiyun's first time was never explained, especially since Yin Ge was a demon beast that had a different anatomy you-know-where blushes, etc).

The main couple has a very toxic relationship since Ling Xiao, the genius OP seme, always ridicules his partner's IQ and refuses to see his partner's strong traits, he uses derogatory, sexist names to call his partner such as "wife" instead of "husband" (even though You XiaoMo tried to make him use this word, especially when he told him about hthe modern era's family meetings), he never waits for his partner's consent and permission to engage in intimate bed activities, he refused to be topped, he expected from his partner to know how to cook, clean, tend a garden, fix and build huts and furniture while he does nothing or does the minimum even when his partner expressly asked him. There are no romantic scenes in this story, not even when they first went to see the night-view at a certain city. There is no romance between them, no endearing words, just a forced dependancy and a type of grooming that resulted in this relationship.

There is also nothing to learn from this story, either. Everyone is selfish and arrogant and even neutral characters will turn evil and with nasty intentions the longer you read into this story.

The only reason I read the whole thing was because I wanted to read it through since I wasted a lot of time waiting for the story to get better. I am that type of person that gives chances at a less-than-great story until a certain point.

i never leave reviews but this time i just have to share how awesome this novel is.
personally i think it is the best
main reason i started on the novel was for the bl, and then stayed for the story. 1st h scene is only after 200 chapters and then its spread out abit, theres enough to spice things up sometimes
relationship between yxm and lx stays pretty much the same throughout, but its so cute and fluffy.
like others have said lx is a bully and yxm is a pushover, even until the very end (for lx only though (｡•̀ᴗ-)✧), but as the plot progress he has alot of character development (at least i think) he's still kind, generous and kinda greedy, but as his level increases hes starts having more self confidence in his fighting.

as for the plot, its very long 713 chapters after all, its also kinda repetitive but its still very interesting

yxm enters 3 different school(ish) theres ALOT of auctions, and ALOT of treasure hunting in different space/dimensions the results are all kinda similar

personally i like that, where they can show off and everyone being in awe and admirring them
but because of the repetitiveness is very predictable and by the last arc nearly everything they need falls in place/ super lucky etc
its kinda a given since they are the main characters and so again predictable. although i dont mind too much
there are some flows and plot holes, and mistakes but not much (although that could be due to me unt understanding Chinese 100%)

i cant find anywhere else to ask/ discuss? but near the very end i thought one of the 7 sins beast died? along with the owner, but then later on its 6 7sins brothers searching for a missing 7sins beast which is not the one that died? its been bugging me

overall i cant express how much i love this novel yxm is just too lovable, give it a try

This story is Very to the extreme detailed... I've read up to the 400? if not 500s chapters. (I found it for free in a certain Chinese website)
Either way to sum things up... (beware of spoiler)
It has a lot of gore... (which suit me just find)
You XiaoMo stop acting like the virginal prude...
A bit like one piece, Naruto, or bleach... For those who read it...
It has a lot of arcs, I think the first arc end around 200s chapters
For those who love adventure and wouldn't mind a bit of bl.... That might be the best novel. A bit slow, but the action's good... especially later on...

I think you were a bit unfair Krazeguy. Like Silver said, it's very slow but every chapter the plot progresses, slowly but surely. I've looked a little bit into the story and I won't say spoilers.

The story is basically divided in 3 plots, beginning, middle and end. Right now we're in the beginning, where everything is being introduced. The middle part is the training ,character growth, and secrets revealed part. The end part is the climax, lots of back and forth and higher stakes, fate of the world high.

I've gotta say I love the adventure feel of the novel. There is not much angst, just two dudes (eventual lovers) going on treasure hunts, spending obscene amounts of money, capturing rare "pokemon" and giving them silly names and baffling/infuriating the people around them with their nonchalant and carefree attitude. Very laid back even in the climax, but still very enjoyable.

The main characters have a nice chemistry- one's a laid back bully, one's a bit of a pushover. XiaoMo develops a lot through the story. He goes from being shy and reserved, a little cowardly, gullible and not wanting to stand out to kicking ass-literally. He has a very adaptive personality and is a genuinely calm, thoughtful person but he's no goody two shoes. If you want a teaser spoiler...

After being ambushed by some enemies he is humorously told by Ling that he has to get used to people being brutally killed. He is naturally hesitant to accept that reality. But he quickly gets over that when he sees how much money he can get from looting the corpses and selling their stuff! Yay!

As for Ling Xiao- perfect seme, that is all. If you wanna know why he's perfect read it to find out, you know you want to.

Basically read it if you haven't started already. It's long and flawed but worth it.

More Cultivation than BL

The primary focus of this series is cultivation and it's great at it. But if you're expecting a lot of BL action or some main conflict, prepare to be disappointed. It's basically a story of dude who becomes a pill maker and happens to catch the eye of a bully who becomes his adventure companion.

I do agree the story is a bit slow, but something usually does happen every chapter, which is more than I can say about a lot of stories out there.

...but it never gets anywhere.

The story thus far is just the main character being oppressed by a mysterious stranger, and you don't know much about the main character or the oppressor. It feels like the kind of novel that requires 800 chapters to get to the point. About 70 of the 75 chapters could be omitted and it would still convey the same information.
