There is a lot about this story that I love. I adore the concept, the moral ambiguity, and atypical characters. The art is awesome. The second MC is absolutely brilliantly written. The first half of the first world is a lot of fun, and there's a lot in the rest to enjoy.

HOWEVER.

I'm at the end of the second world, and the plotholes and contradictions regarding the MC's personality are frustrating. I keep reading hoping the inconsistencies will start making sense (and because there's so much about this story that I love) but I'm getting more and more lost. I enjoy unique/unusual characters, but even unique characters have to have their own logic, even if it's unique logic. But that's not happening here. And what we're told the MC is meant to be (according to the second MC) is definitely NOT what he is, so we can't even rely on that to understand what's going on.

There really is a lot about this series that I love. And, like I said, I adore the concept and moral ambiguity. But I really wish there was more clarity around what kind of character the MC is actually meant to be. As it is, it's hard to get invested when I feel like I have constant whiplash.

Not at all what I was expecting, but in a good way. The plot seemed a bit weak from the description and I was worried cause a lot of isekai/transmigration plots tend to go on and on and on with a progressively more convoluted plot that makes no sense (solo leveling, gourmet eating, etc). This one so far doesn't seem to have that issue, I just started the third story arc and it's still going pretty strong to me.

The art is mostly reliable, very easy on the eyes. Characters are easy to tell apart and are recognizable even as their outfits and hairstyles change from day to day.

Level of BL is one kiss on screen (some sites have a censored version of that, which I'm guessing is from the original version). I think there was one short sexual scene, fully clothed, but nothing else so far. Looks to build up to more, with a history between the characters that is being teased, but each new story arc resets their relationship so the level so far remains at 'shounen ai' instead of 'yaoi' on here.

The overall story is interesting, a follow-the-novel-plot instead of the usual video game isekai type. If the MC plays the characters correctly, then he can go back, but there's an inherent flaw in the plot that has been stymying his efforts. Each arc is completely different, with a regular world story and some different fantasy elements in others. Characters know and interact with each other in different ways within these arcs as well, which I like a lot.

It's still unfinished at 91 chapters so far, the third arc has only just started. Fair warning that the translations are either partially MTL or translated by people who aren't fully fluent, so it doesn't flow at times, but is still readable and understandable. My rating doesn't not include the translation efforts, of course, just my enjoyment of the unique plot.

4th arc update: I'm still enjoying this series, but it has gotten a bit more confusing between the more complicated plot and the weak translations. I feel like it was best in the first two arcs, was fairly decent in the third, but my confusion has clouded my enjoyment of the fourth so far. We'll see if it gets easier as the arc progresses.

I'm absolutely obsessed with this series because the premise is pure entertainment gold, and the main couple are SO good. Their dynamic is super interesting, and they're both rotten perverts XD I love it!!
They get up to some deliciously kinky shit (sadly, nothing all the way) but HOO boy they're hot enough to suffice tbh.

The first obsessive dynamic was pure gold. The 2nd arc is also interesting so far. Honestly the writer is so good?? Kiss the Abyss was also pretty solid. Their ideas are genius.
