Way better than expected!

Man, this is a breath of fresh air compared to all the shitty web & light novels I've been reading through the past two months. Basically 98% of them range from being awful to mediocre. Having a MC that come of as an arrogant, bad ass, cold blooded killer, that let nothing stand in his way while protecting his ambition, his friends and loved ones, is great. Not to mention a huge relief compared to a lot of Japanese light/web novels that I've had the misfortune to pick up while searching for a few grains of gold in that endless sea of shit! Most of those novels instead have worthless, one dimensional perverted losers as male leads, who gets a harem thrown his way without even lifting a finger (other than being somewhat nice to the females), while relying on deus ex mechanics to help them along the way.

This one however is not, and it doesn't even have the frustrating habit which most wuxia novels have, where the MC suddenly jumps up in level, with little or no explanation how or why while the background story is messy and likewise lacks proper explanation.

While I have only read the translated chapters in English, I disagree with IT0! The language is not bad at all and personally I prefer strong, cocky, arrogant MC's compared to weak, spineless losers. I do agree with the naming of the characters though, a common trait which a lot wuxia novels seems to share unfortunately. The names are just too similar and makes it hard to keep track on whose who. Coiling Dragon for example, solves this by westernizing the names, which makes for a way more enjoyable read. Keeping track of Chu 1 through 10, or Xian/Xiang 1-200 is extremely frustrating, I wish more web novels (or the translators) would take this approach.

That said, it's a highly entertaining read so far and I cant wait to see what happens later on. Sure, it might turn out to be repetitive and boring in the long run, but writing this review after (update) reading 115 chapters, I don't see any sign of that yet, and I sincerely hope it stays this way. I really cant get enough of this, the only flaw is the fact that I anxiously have to wait for new chapters. I'm literately checking the site daily! And keeping me hooked on the story like this, is indeed a good rating for a novel/manga/film/series.

WOW. This MC is really something. read till 150 and just cant go on anymore. Having an OP MC is ok, but having one that is too stupid to live is frustrating. This guy goes on about trying to hide his powerful divine lightning whatever thing. Does it not get suspicious if he wrecks everyone higher power level than him? He shows off non-stop, doesn't give two shits about consequences, a lot of the fights that break out could have been completely avoided if he just wasn't a dumb little shit. I completely agree with some of the above comments about this LN. It's alright to be a ruthless mofo, but at least be a cunning ruthless mofo and not make more problems for yourself. Even gangbangers would know better.
He could have just joined up with an alliance, hide his power along the way and use it as a buffer/shield as he fucks people up. Instead going lone wolf and making himself easy target for other vindictive POS. I get that this world is ruthless,dark,scary,might is right,kill,kill, and more kill but MC having grown up in this world should at least be able to plan shit out to navigate this great and terrible place. And not rely solely on luck, where good shit happens for the MC cause of...just cause period.

I will not say this series is bad, but, I admit I grow tired of how each and every wuxia novel I read is filled with bloodthirsty martial artist in dog eat dog world? The strong almost always abuse their power and treating everyone as trash... sigh... Is it part of chinese culture?

sure some minor stuff doesn't make sense but who cares it doesn't affect the story anyway

Forced story with bastard mc

Mc is the embodiment of shitty character, the story is forced to make sense what mc do and grant his wish, and the other characters are unreasonable alien (they don't do what people do, they don't think what people think, welp... they don't have brain to think)

Incredibly Epic

This story is a pretty typical Xianxia. The MC was thought crippled but suddenly has incredible growth.

The fights are REALLY, REALLY epic. You should definitely read this story.

I rated this story a 9/10 because of the absurd amount of plot armor. It feels like every other fight he does something outrageous, someone stronger somes to whoop his ass for it, and someone even stronger comes to protect Chu Feng.

Good plot, Ruthless MC (may not suitable for some readers)

So, you're looking for another martial arts novel with weak MC that becomes OP huh? well I've read up to chap 230+, and I've got several news for ya.

The good news are: story is pretty good (little fun trickery every now and then, sweet revenge, usual stuff), romance is pretty interesting (the flirts are fun. Romance also includes some skipable 'explicit content', not like CD that lacks romance)

Bad news are the MC is the usual victim that going for revenge after power up and this plot is used repetitively (i mean, almost every people in that world is arsehole...). MC appeared to be docile at the beginning but after he powered up he gets ruthless (if not arrogant), I mean, if other MC kill their opponent, that would be the end, but our MC here would also kill the opponent's friends, family, family's guest, pets, etc etc. (this may not suitable for some readers, your choice to like such principle or not is up to you)

Also, at first he doesn't attack those who does not offend him (but soon after he power up, he would beat up those who even offend him by words and later on he would kill and play tricks on someone who almost does not even offend him (the stealing in profound harvest arc)

So yeah, overall, decent plot to read, but the MC's personality is pretty controversial/arrogant (that sentences he said after he lose his virginity says it all. "you're mine" dafuq....)

Still recommend to read it for the sweet revenge and fun romance though, I'd say plot is much better than Stellar Transformation and Desolate Era, maybe even comparable or better than Coiling Dragon.

What? How is he not someone "who relies on luck and somebody saving his a** all the time"??
I've only read it until chapter 100 and he was already saved by luck and other strong guys at least 10 times.

The old man's ghost in the graveyard, the older sister of his girlfriend, the elder when he wanted to go in the training formation, and again when he became a core disciple, the beggar saved his ass multiple times

It was okay until it's got boring

I've read up to the newest 1900~ chapter and I have to say that it was good until around 1000 chapters. After nearly 2000 chapters he hasn't even started to go to his homeland and it's got to the point where nothing happens in 3-4 chapters, just banters, talks. The author also never describes how the surroundings look like, it's just dialogues and fights. Somehow half of the fight also is commentary from bystanders which I can't understand when sometimes there's no one around and there's still people out of nowhere. The MC is an arrogant douche who just acts and never thinks which got luckily saved by multiple people multiple times. A bit of spoiler: Somehow he got 3 people who considered to be in the top 10 to travel with and protect him in a mission, they just go to a castle and kill everyone, neat.. It was fun while it lasted

I hate Chufeng

I only lasted so long with this story because I was interested in Chufeng's origins, everything else from the super shallow characters, the unbelievable harem and the endless plot-armor, I could ignore just to learn of his origins but it got to the point were I couldn't take Chufeng's horrible character anymore.

I don't mind Main Characters who are borderline villainous like Weed, Yun Che... If a character is going to be a douchebag, I want him/her to be a CUNNING, INTELLIGENT, HARDWORKING and/or CHARISMATIC douche.

Chufeng has zero good qualities, he's hot-headed to extremely ridiculous levels, completely immoral, egotistic, stupid, perverted, shallow, arrogant and self-centered. I have yet to read any other novel with a character as unlikable as Chufeng!

I like the descriptions of the fights, the plot seems to be headed into an interesting direction but I just can not take any more of the idiotic decisions the MC continuously makes. Dropped
