Gimmick that doesn't really utilize its gimmick

Why is their relationship a secret? Just so they can reveal it and be applauded when the author has run out of ways to milk more chapters. The supporting cast is unmemorable or blatantly nonexistent. This manga has 2 characters and they barely have an identity of their own. This manga is most enjoyable if you ignore all the speech-bubbles and just look at the art as it does a pretty good job of telling you what's going on by showing. And the art itself is, aside from the few instances the author decided to use black and white photographs, quite nice. Sometimes the author struggled with keeping the height of our giant consistent but it's not too big of an issue.

Overall it's nice to look at. But their relationship is more like someone's delusions of what a relationship would be like and our MC has no interesting opinions of his own so that everyone can self insert, our love-interest has no personality so everyone can project one onto her. There's no conflict. There's no tension. There's no development. It's just nice and wholesome.

All the characters are flat. You can read chapters (mostly) out of order and you would not be missing a thing. Don't expect characters to interact with each other despite it being a "romance" manga.

Epitome of Slice of Life Romance

It reminded me a lot of Yotsuba! in tone, but if it was a romance with a dash of ecchi. I kept expecting a little bit of drama but it never showed up, which was kinda refreshing. Overall a cute innocent slice of life romance. Would have rated a 10, but the lack of an epilogue was a tiny bummer, I'm a sucker for epilogues.

Pleasantly surprised.

I'm not a big fan of shonen romances because the ones I've read have all been really fanservice heavy, so when I read the synopsis for this one I figured I'd read it and leave if I didn't like it.
I read it all the way through!
Fujiyama is precious, and Kanba is a protagonist I was surprised I'd like. The pacing of the romance was lovely and, while perhaps mild for other people, felt relatable and pleasant to me. And all of the sensual/sexual stuff felt intimate and engaging.
I was honestly surprised at how much I loved this series and I think other people would love it too!

Quite a TALL order..

For the most part this is honestly a simple manga. It's pretty much just the slice-of-life activities of the main couple as they go through high school and get closer to each other in the process. No real drama or even many misunderstandings, just two young people and their feelings.

That lack of drama is both a good thing and a bad thing at times. Good in that you can see the couple grow without the cliche plot twists like a third wheel in the romance or them never confessing. Bad in that not much happens. A few times I was just flipping through pages trying to get to the next thing in the story. I still recommend this story. But know that not much really happens.

For once an

ending didn't ruin it for me. It was pretty clear they were

I just of the opinion that lighthearted romance stories should show what becomes of them.

Clumsy ≠ Idiot

Many mangaka don't get this except the one who made this manga. I don't understand why is it so profitable to sell idiots as main characters (deliver what your readers can understand may be?). I like the main characters in this one, they are clumsy, like people finding out how it is to go out with someone. The guy acts like any other guy would act and the girl does too.

This indeed is a rare jewel, I've ignored it for quite some time but I thank myself now that I stopped doing so.

Not LoveCom.

When I stumbled upon this, I initially remember Lovely Complex. Otani and Risa's height complex.
Nope this is no LoveCom.

The lovers might have a huge height difference but it was not a huge deal to the guy nor to the girl to start dating, although there are times. Oh hail Kanba! This guy, no this man is the MAN! I will not spoil, read it. Believe me.

The development of their relationship is so smooth but somehow realistic. I just love it. I feel like falling in love again for the very first time. And the sexual tension has a good mix.
Plus, I just admire the artwork. I sincerely adore detailed art.

Very refreshing indeed.

Adorable

It's just a simple tale of a first love. The only thing unusual about the this story of the slow development of love between the main character and his classmate Fujiyama is that she's a lot taller than him. So far, that has presented no problem for the two, because they're not thinking far ahead, and they're keeping their relationship secret. Not that there is much to their relationship so far, since they are both middle school students, and very innocent! This innocent love is very touching, and so moving that I almost think the mangaka is drawing upon some sweet memory from his past. Fujiyama is drawn very carefully and very lovingly, which is another thing that makes me thing this story has special meaning for its creator.

I consider this manga a special jewel. I think almost anyone could enjoy it, and some, like me, might love it.
