The first half was great

The first half of the series was great it reminds me of Berserker world where you can die any moment and how cruel the world can be if you dont watch out for yourself. Then the author started losing it adding plots and characters taking out the focus from claire main revenge arc. First we had youmas then awakening then abyssals, then dragons it felt like since Priscilla was overpowered theres must be all sorts of villains out there. The problems relies on the fact the story was rushed after the middle chapters and added so many characters and plots that it felt empty in the end. The author should've sticked with the formula of just having clare and raki as main plot. Even the cliches of having a bad organization behind everything felt empty. The world itself is just an island so its unlikely they would maintain control of this for so long. Making it brief. The manga started as Berserker and ended as DBZ of medieval times.

Good read

The manga was a pretty good action read with decent lore. The art and story progressively get better but it does feel like it loses its grittiness at some point in the story.

The story itself was weak at the beginning, but peaks at some point in the middle arcs. However, the story quality remains stagnant or even drops a little from that point forth. Needless to say, like many manga the epilogue and ending were underwhelming. Overall the story was above average.

Enjoyable

This manga was enjoyable but that's it, cool history, cool fights, art is amazing but it never clicked for me, honestly the characters were the weakest part of the manga, I've never been a fan of mangas that introduce 10 characters out of nowhere and suddenly you have to care for them, specially in this manga where everyone looks similar. But I still recommend this.

Really liked the charactes, fights as well as world it was set into. The pacing was solid, quite slow at the start with higher pace near the end, yet it did not feel rushed at all IMO. Even the ending was good. If you are looking for a great manga with cool fights, power-ups and nice story definitely give Claymore a try.

"It was not bad but the ending was really rushed and I didn't like how they executed the final fight, but this is my opinion."

That's that for me

I got to the chapters where the claymore's were bickering about who's ranked highest and who's the strongest and suchlike, and I realized that this women were acting just like teenage boys. Somehow I like my heroes to be more dignified if they're really going to be heroes, and there's something sad about seeing women acting as stupid as men usually do.

Plus in general there's way too much killing. People who enjoy manga full of killing fail to fully understand that the world ends forever for everyone who dies, and all the pride and other stuff that means so much among us who are alive is instantly nullified when we die.

i really like the manga, i like the art, the characters, and the fights. however i must warn you it does get cliche-y and new age-y and shounen-y towards the end. and of course the central reason for the problem is still not resolved, but i guess as long as they are happy anything else outside is unimportant.

I'm not fan of shounen genre but I found Claymore very enjoyable. Around 20th volume I through it's getting little long but the ending was great. I didn't expect something like it. Anyway Claire is not bad character, yet I found more interesting in others Claymore fighters. And Raki was so-so. Author didn't give him much space. What disapointed me most was Priscilla.

Started well, dropped by chapter 106

This series started really well and had a lot of premise. Half way through it started to loose its focus, the story couldn't decide who the main character was anymore. It would build up the story then move onto another character making the main plot slow and painful to follow. By chapter 106 I lost interest in anymore.

Good one of it's kind

Claymore was the 1st of its kind that I read (monster manga). I got to read Berserk way later, but I think I still prefer Claymore.

First of all, Claymore's world is not very vast. It's set on an island, and it remain so throughout the story. This makes it's environment stable. The story telling was also swift. First we were introduced to the monsters (youma), then the warriors (claymores), then to awakened being, then we were introduced to the strongest 3, the abysal ones. From one chapter to another, there's more and more mysteries revealed, which has kept me going. The fights are good, claymores and youma / awakened fights are always enjoyable to watch. The author did well to keep the power balance, the monsters are naturally stronger, but the warriors fight smart. The characters are well drawn and depicted. Deaths come one after another, but it wasn't all that grave, there are times to mourn but the story goes on. Gore scenes are part of some fights, but Claymore is way less gory than Berserk.

I actually like how it ends. The anime end with a more standard power-up style victory, but the manga ends way better (at least for me). There's some possibilities for sequel, involving larger world related to Claymore's, but Claymore as it is has good end and where it end it become good story. So if you don't mind about some gory scene, and interested in human vs monster themed story, Claymore will be a good read.
